We are looking for a Mid-level full-stack Node.js Engineer to join our team developing embedded Linux applications for monitoring equipment in electrical networks.
The role is primarily focused on JavaScript and TypeScript development, using Node.js to build microservices on our embedded Linux platform and React.js to create web applications that communicate with back-end services through REST APIs.
You will design, implement, test, and debug features for IoT embedded devices. You will work independently on well-defined deliverables, contribute to technical decisions, and collaborate with senior engineers on more complex system-level work.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain embedded software applications using Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, and React.
- Design and implement features and REST APIs within established system architecture.
- Debug and troubleshoot software issues in Linux-based embedded systems.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and reliable software delivery.
- Create and maintain unit and integration tests, and support system testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, QA, and DevOps teams.
- Participate actively in code reviews and apply agreed coding standards and engineering practices.
- Estimate assigned work, communicate progress, and raise technical risks early.
Required Qualifications
- Practical commercial experience developing applications with Node.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Experience building or consuming REST APIs and working with modern web applications.
- Good debugging and problem-solving skills in a Linux environment.
- Working knowledge of common communication and transport protocols such as Ethernet, serial, and TLS/SSL.
- Experience with source control and collaborative software development practices.
- Fluent English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with React.js.
- Experience with Docker for containerisation.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD or a comparable automation platform.
- Experience with Linux system configuration.
- Exposure to IoT projects or hardware-software integration.
- Familiarity with Agile methods and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Experience with Rust is an additional advantage.
