About the role

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our team in support of the Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. This role is designed for individuals who have lived experience with mental illness, addiction, and recovery, and who are trained and certified in peer services.

In this position, you will draw on your own journey to inspire hope and support others facing similar challenges. You'll work along side consumers as they navigate recovery, transition between levels of care, and work toward living independent and productive lives within their communities.

Location: New Castle, Delaware

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3pm-11:30pm

Pay Range: $20-$25 per hour


What you'll do

  • Use your lived experience to provide hope, encouragement, and peer support to individuals living with mental illness, addiction, and/or co-occurring conditions.
  • Assist consumers in developing the skills, strategies, and community resources needed to live independently and productively.
  • Support individuals as they transition between levels of care, ensuring continuity and a smooth progression through treatment or recovery services.
  • Serve as a role model by sharing your personal recovery experience in appropriate, purposeful ways that promote education and empowerment.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care services in alignment with the standards and integrity of the Department of Health and Human Services - Division of Mental Health and Substance Abuse.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting as required by your administrative supervisor.
  • Travel as needed to support consumers in the community.

Qualifications

  • Peer Specialist Certification
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Direct personal experience living with mental illness and/or addiction and recovery
  • Willingness to self-disclose lived experience for the purpose of education, role modeling, and providing hope to others about the reality of recovery
  • Valid driver's license (driving/travel is required)


This position requires reliable transportation and a willingness to travel as part of the role.
