Staff Data Scientist

About Concord Technologies

Our fax-delivery suite of products allows our clients to exchange millions of patient information, insurance and other documents safely, swiftly and securely every business day. Concord’s use of Artificial Intelligence, analytics, and other cutting-edge technology also analyzes the data being transferred within a fax, then delivers it into the right inboxes and workflows, fundamentally changing how data moves.

More than 2,300 healthcare organizations, financial providers, and companies in other equally document-intensive industries trust Concord to deliver their confidential and sensitive information. We care about our customers, and with a retention rate of more than 98%, it’s clear they love the service and value we provide.

We have been in business since 1996 and growing faster than ever. Our products are getting smarter, our customers are getting bigger, and our user community is exploding. To continue meeting market demand and anticipating our customers’ needs, we are expanding our offerings. That means assembling a world-class team to take us through this next phase of growth. We hope you’d like to join us!

About the Company

We are a healthcare technology company transforming how clinical and administrative documents are exchanged. Our platform integrates secure cloud fax, intelligent document processing, and EHR interoperability to streamline workflows and improve patient outcomes. We are committed to leveraging both traditional ML and cutting-edge GenAI to automate and optimize document-driven processes across the healthcare ecosystem.

Position Summary

As a Staff Data Scientist, you will serve as a technical leader and domain expert, driving high-impact AI/ML initiatives that extend beyond individual projects. You will define standards for model development, deployment, and monitoring, and shape the long-term AI strategy of our intelligent document exchange platform. You will influence cross-team decisions, mentor and coach other data scientists, and ensure our AI systems are scalable, compliant, and future-ready. Staff Data Scientists operate at the intersection of research, engineering, and product, ensuring alignment between business outcomes and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Model Development & Deployment

  • Architect frameworks for large-scale ML/DL and GenAI deployment (e.g., retraining pipelines, evaluation frameworks, auto-deployment of checkpoints).
  • Lead research and integration of cutting-edge techniques (e.g., LayoutLM, RAG pipelines, multi-modal models).
  • Balance innovation with business trade-offs (accuracy, cost, turnaround time), setting standards for solution adoption.
  • Anticipate long-term risks (e.g., data drift, scaling bottlenecks) and design preventive solutions.

Data Engineering & Analysis

  • Oversee the creation of enterprise-grade data pipelines that integrate multiple sources (fax, EHR, third-party data).
  • Define data governance, annotation strategy, and quality standards for AI-driven workflows.
  • Leverage deep statistical/ML expertise to diagnose systemic failures and propose sustainable improvements.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Act as a bridge across AI, product, compliance, and DevOps, ensuring architectural consistency.
  • Mentor and coach Data Scientists and Senior Data Scientists, raising the team’s technical bar.
  • Provide thought leadership on AI roadmap planning, balancing near-term deliverables with long-term innovation.
  • Present findings and proposals to senior leadership, influencing product and platform direction.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • 7–10 years of applied experience in AI/ML with a track record of delivering production systems.
  • Expertise in deep learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow), NLP/GenAI (Transformers, OpenAI, LangChain), and applied ML techniques.
  • Proven ability to design scalable MLOps systems and optimize cost-performance trade-offs.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare data formats, compliance frameworks, and real-world deployment constraints.

Preferred Attributes

  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in one or more AI domains (e.g., NLP, multimodal ML, model optimization).
  • Excellent at balancing strategic innovation with operational reliability.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority, aligning diverse stakeholders around a vision.
  • Skilled in simplifying complex AI concepts for both technical and executive audiences.
  • Track record of mentoring and creating growth paths for other data scientists.
