Dext Capital is pleased to offer a Legal Externship opportunity for Lewis & Clark Law School students seeking hands-on experience in a sophisticated financial services and asset management environment. This externship is designed to provide a carefully supervised, educational work experience that emphasizes substantive legal learning, practical lawyering skills, and professional responsibility, consistent with the Lewis & Clark Law School Externship Program objectives.

The extern will work under the direct supervision of an attorney authorized to practice law and will be treated as a learner first and foremost. The experience is structured to complement the student’s academic coursework and support professional development.

About the Externship:

This externship provides students with exposure to the equipment finance and leasing industry, a specialized area of commercial law that sits at the intersection of finance, secured transactions, contract law, and regulatory compliance. Dext Capital operates as a national equipment finance company, working with businesses to structure, document, and manage financing solutions for mission-critical equipment across a variety of industries.

From a legal perspective, equipment finance touches many core areas of business law, including Article 2A and Article 9 of the UCC, risk allocation, collateralization, default remedies, and regulatory considerations unique to financial services companies.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Legal research related to equipment leases and secured transactions
• Contract review and drafting support
• Compliance and regulatory research
• Exposure to risk management and litigation support
• Collaboration with business and compliance teams
• Opportunity to obtain Certified Leasing & Finance Professional Certification

Experience Requirements:
