Divcon

Director of Product Strategy

About the role:

The Director of Product Strategy is responsible for defining and executing Divcon's product strategy, aligning product development with business goals, customer needs, market opportunities, and technical feasibility. This senior-level role serves as a strategic connector across product development, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and leadership to ensure the product roadmap is clear, prioritized, governed, and commercially compelling.

This role requires an experienced product leader with strong product discipline, systems thinking, and the ability to build consensus across functions. While deep controls expertise is not required, the Director of Product Strategy must be technically savvy enough to translate customer needs and market insights into actionable requirements for physical, engineered, or technology-enabled products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and own the long-term product vision and strategy aligned to Divcon's business objectives, target markets, and growth priorities.
  • Lead product roadmap development, governance, prioritization, and execution cadence across new product initiatives, enhancements, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Gather, validate, and translate customer, market, sales, and technical input into clear product requirements, business cases, and decision-ready recommendations.
  • Partner closely with technology, engineering, product development, marketing, sales, and operations to align customer needs with technical feasibility, resource plans, timelines, and milestones.
  • Conduct market research, competitive analysis, customer discovery, and trend assessment to identify unmet needs, product opportunities, differentiation, and risks.
  • Build robust business cases for product investments, including market opportunity, customer impact, financial return, technical considerations, implementation requirements, and go-to-market implications.
  • Establish product governance practices that support disciplined requirements gathering, prioritization, roadmap visibility, project management, and cross-functional accountability.
  • Facilitate cross-functional planning meetings and decision forums to build alignment, resolve tradeoffs, and maintain momentum across product initiatives.
  • Work with sales and marketing to define product positioning, value propositions, launch priorities, and revenue growth strategies for product offerings.
  • Monitor product performance, customer adoption, margin contribution, competitive position, and key product metrics; recommend improvements based on data and stakeholder feedback.
  • Serve as the internal voice of the customer and ensure the customer perspective remains central throughout product definition, development, launch, and lifecycle management.
  • Communicate product strategy, priorities, roadmap status, risks, and decisions clearly to executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive product management, product strategy, product development, or related experience, ideally within a physical product, engineered product, industrial technology, building systems, controls, or manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Product Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated strength in product discipline, including requirements gathering, customer/client engagement, prioritization, roadmap management, governance, and project management.
  • Strong systems-thinking capability and technical aptitude; able to understand complex technical concepts, evaluate dependencies, and partner effectively with engineering and technology leaders without requiring deep controls expertise.
  • Proven ability to build consensus, influence without direct authority, and align cross-functional stakeholders around product strategy, priorities, and tradeoff decisions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with the ability to translate market insights and technical information for executive, commercial, and engineering audiences.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen with experience developing business cases, interpreting market/product data, and making commercially sound recommendations.
  • Customer-centric mindset with experience conducting customer discovery, voice-of-customer analysis, market research, or client engagement to inform product decisions.
  • Experience developing product roadmaps, launch plans, lifecycle strategies, and performance metrics.
  • Comfortable operating in a growing, cross-functional organization where priorities, resources, and processes must be actively coordinated.
