Technician (Plumbing New Construction)

About the role

  • The New Construction Plumbing Technician is responsible for installing plumbing systems for commercial and residential projects, ensuring work is completed to code, meets safety standards, and delivers high-quality service to customers.

What you'll do

  • Install and repair plumbing systems including water supply lines, drainage systems, and gas piping.
  • Install underground/below-slab plumbing (waste, vent, and water lines) prior to slab pour, ensuring proper layout per plan.
  • Rough-in plumbing systems for multi-unit and commercial buildings, including stub-outs for future fixtures.
  • Install and connect sanitary sewer, storm drain, and water distribution systems in coordination with other trades.
  • Set and calibrate backflow prevention devices, grease interceptors, and sump/ejector pump systems as required.
  • Perform top-out plumbing work, including venting and DWV (drain-waste-vent) systems, before drywall installation.
  • Coordinate with general contractors, project managers, and other trades (electrical, HVAC) to avoid conflicts and stay on schedule.
  • Read and interpret commercial construction blueprints, isometric drawings, and plumbing specifications, flagging discrepancies before installation.
  • Perform pressure testing and inspection prep on rough-in and underground work to ensure code compliance ahead of inspections.
  • Serve as an onsite point of contact and leader for apprentices and helpers, providing guidance and on-the-job coaching.
  • Work with PEX, PVC, copper, cast iron, and other plumbing materials common in commercial applications.
  • Install water heaters, faucets, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures during trim-out.
  • Operate hand and power tools to complete installations and repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe worksite and adhere to company safety standards, including OSHA requirements for commercial job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized company-assigned vehicle.
  • Safely maintain and keep up with company-provided technology.
  • Keep detailed records of work completed using mobile software, including job notes and pictures, for each construction phase (underground, rough-in, top-out, trim, final). 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in residential and/or commercial plumbing.
  • Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (CDL preferred, though required for hauling roles).
  • Ability to pass DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening, if applicable.
  • Maintain active DOT medical card. 
  • OSHA 10/30 or other safety certifications desired/not required

The pay range for this role is:

23 - 28 USD per hour (US)
