The Role

We are looking for a Controller to own our accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. You will lead the close, make sure our financials are accurate and audit-ready, and give leadership the insight needed to make sound decisions as we grow. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will manage the accounting function and still be close to the details.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close, ensuring timely and accurate results
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
• Coordinate external audits and tax filings and work with outside CPAs and advisors
• Manage and develop members of the accounting team
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to the executive team
• Evaluate and improve accounting systems, processes, and reporting tools
• Support compliance with applicable regulatory and financial reporting requirements

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional accounting or finance experience
• 3+ years of managerial experience, including direct supervision of staff
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP, month-end close, and financial reporting
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Must be US based 

Preferred

• Experience in insurance or health care
• CPA license
• Experience in a growing or fast-moving company

What We Offer

• Fully remote position (must be US based)
• Compensation: $130,000 - $150,000 on base + performance bonus
