Sustainment Coordinator

About Forterra

At Forterra, we are unleashing autonomy at scale to transform the battlefield. Our mission is to build the foundational platforms that enable an intelligent ecosystem to coordinate, adapt, and execute with speed and precision even in the uncertainty and disruption of modern conflict. In an era marked by rapid technological change and evolving threats, we design for flexibility, survivability, and operational dominance.

Forterra delivers weapons, sensors, and battlefield effects through integrated autonomous networks reaching operational areas faster, safer, and without placing human lives at risk. Our systems operate with distributed control, dynamic routing, and real-time responsiveness, enabling sustained advantage across complex mission environments.

About the role

Forterra fields autonomous ground vehicle systems with customers who cannot afford downtime. The Sustainment Coordinator is the person who makes sure the right part is in the right place before anyone notices it is missing. This role owns day-to-day execution of spares - replenishment, shipping and recovery, inventory accuracy, and status reporting - and is the operational backbone of every new site stand-up for spares readiness.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership execution role. You will be the single point of truth for what spares we have, where they are, and whether a site is ready. You will work daily with Quality on returns and repairs, with Supply Chain on replenishment, with Field Service on what is breaking, and with program leadership on readiness calls.

You do not need to have done this job before. If you have run a stockroom, a warehouse aisle, or a military supply room and you are ready for the next step, we will teach you the systems, the paperwork, and the standards. What we are looking for in the right candidate is urgency, ownership, and the instinct to chase a discrepancy down instead of letting it sit. Your first months are structured and supported, with the expectation that you grow into owning the function and the career path that comes with it.

What you'll do

Spares Inventory & Replenishment

  • Own spares replenishment end to end: monitor stock levels against min/max thresholds, trigger reorders, and track purchase orders through receipt
  • Maintain accurate sustainment inventory records in the ERP, including serial number traceability for configuration-controlled parts
  • Assist with the inventory audit process - cycle counts, discrepancy research, root-cause analysis of variances, and corrective actions – for sustainment owner spare parts
  • Work with Supply Chain and Engineering on lead times, obsolescence risk, and reorder point adjustments as fielded fleet size changes

Shipping, Recovery & Movement

  • Coordinate outbound shipment of spares to sites and inbound recovery of parts, tooling, and unused stock
  • Prepare shipping documentation and coordinate with Shipping & receiving team on following hazmat requirements and export control (ITAR/EAR) rules on international movements, with training provided
  • Manage packaging, crating, and kitting standards so parts arrive usable and undamaged
  • Track in-transit inventory and close the loop on every movement in the system of record

Site Stand-Up Support

  • Gather and verify the spares package – based on spares plan provided - for each new site activation: confirm on-hand availability, identify gaps early, and escalate shortfalls with enough runway to act
  • Stage, kit, and ship site spares packages against the activation timeline
  • Provide regular pre-stand-up status reporting that clearly flags on-track versus at-risk, with the specific part-level driver of any risk
  • Communicate sparing movements and allocation decisions to field teams, program management, and customer-facing stakeholders

Returns, Repair & Quality Interface

  • Work with the Quality team on the RMA process for parts returning from the field - receipt, triage, documentation, and disposition
  • Track repaired and reworked parts back into serviceable inventory and out to the field, maintaining visibility throughout the repair loop
  • Support warranty claims and returns; track replacements to closure
  • Segregate and control non-conforming material in coordination with Quality

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Produce recurring spares status reporting: stock position, open backorders, RMA aging, repair turnaround time, and site readiness
  • Surface demand trends and failure patterns that should inform sparing models and provisioning decisions
  • Document and improve sustainment SOPs - receiving, issuing, audit, RMA, and shipping - as the function scales

Minimum Qualifications

  • Go getter attitude, and someone that finds a way to make things happen.
  • 3+ year of hands-on experience in a warehouse, stockroom, shipping and receiving, inventory, logistics, or military supply environment; or comparable work where you were accountable for real material
  • High energy and a bias to act - when something is at risk you move on it rather than waiting to be asked
  • Comfort with shipping and receiving fundamentals such packing, labeling, paperwork, carrier pickups, or the drive to learn them fast
  • Strong organizational discipline - this role fails quietly if records drift from reality
  • Clear, direct communication: able to give a status that a program lead can act on without a follow-up question
  • Working proficiency with Excel, and the aptitude to become our expert user of an ERP or inventory system
  • Respectful team player

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting field service, depot, or aftermarket parts operations for complex hardware
  • Familiarity with NetSuite, Salesforce Field Service, or comparable ERP/FSM platforms
  • Exposure to export control (ITAR/EAR) requirements
  • Military logistics or supply background (92A/92Y, 3043, 2S0X1, or equivalent)
  • Experience with RMA and warranty workflows and quality management systems
  • Cycle counting, inventory audit, or ERP transaction experience (NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
  • Experience preparing shipping documentation or coordinating freight and carriers

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate's or bachelor's degree, military supply or logistics training, and hands-on warehouse or inventory experience are all valid paths into this role — we weigh demonstrated ownership over credentials
