Demographics Project Coordinator


Cumann Lúthchleas Gael is Ireland’s leading sporting and cultural organisation with membership approaching one million people and more than 500,000 playing participants at all levels.  Inspired and supported by the voluntary efforts of its members, the GAA is focused on the development and promotion of Gaelic Games and culture nationally and in local communities.  




Applications are now welcome for two County Demographics Project Coordinator positions, as part of a new 2 year pilot project aimed at supporting Counties in responding to changing population, participation and club demographics. One position will be based in Kerry and one in Kildare.

Reporting to the County Operations Manager/ County Secretary, the successful candidate will support the development and delivery of demographic strategies and priority projects across the Association. The role will use demographic and participation data to identify areas of growth, participation challenges and opportunities for club development and sustainability, while working closely with County structures, clubs, schools, local authorities and other key stakeholders.

Responsibilities include:

·         Develop and implement the County Demographics Plan, identifying key demographic challenges, growth opportunities and priority projects across the county.

·         Use demographic, population and participation data to support evidence-based planning and decision-making at county and club level.

·         Identify areas of population growth where club or participation capacity may be limited, and develop appropriate responses including Games Activity Hubs, school-based programmes and club expansion initiatives.

·         Assess opportunities for club development, including the expansion of existing clubs, formation of new clubs and alternative structures, and provide recommendations to the County Board.

·         Work with identified rural clubs to support their long-term sustainability, including player pathway continuity, volunteer development, joint structures and shared services where appropriate.

·         Develop and deliver targeted initiatives to improve participation, retention and inclusion, including opportunities to engage New Irish and newcomer communities.

·         Monitor participation and retention trends across clubs and schools and use this information to identify areas requiring additional support or intervention.

·         Build and maintain effective working relationships with clubs, County structures, schools, ETBs, local authorities, community organisations and statutory bodies.

·         Work with external stakeholders to develop new initiatives, partnerships, funding opportunities and resource commitments that support county priorities.

·         Manage and coordinate the delivery of agreed demographic and participation projects, ensuring they are progressed effectively and within agreed timelines.

·         Provide regular updates and reports to the County Executive, County Board and relevant County structures on project progress, challenges, outcomes and next steps.

·         Monitor and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of projects, contributing to an annual review and the development of priorities for the following year.

·         The position holder will also undertake any other such projects or responsibilities as may reasonably be delegated by his or her manager.

 

 

Requirements:

 

Essential:

·         A minimum of 5 years’ experience in GAA or community sports development leadership/coordinator roles, with experience in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and programme delivery

·         Experience in project development and delivery, including planning, monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes.

·         Strong understanding of the factors that influence participation, retention, population growth and community development.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, recommendations and presentations for a range of audiences.

·         Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and work to agreed timelines.

·         A high level of IT proficiency, with experience using Microsoft Office and data management, analysis or reporting tools.

Desirable:

·         Qualification in Sport Development, Community Development, or related field

·         Previous experience of working within the GAA (or similar organisation) at a professional or volunteer capacity;
