Mission Catalyst

About Global Gates Network of Canada

Summary

A Global Gates Network of Canada Mission Catalyst’s primary task is to develop and implement an aggressive strategy to reach a particular least-reached community or least-reached affinity communities, with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Mission Catalyst builds an ecosystem of prayer, ministry, evangelism, discipleship, church multiplication, and leadership development that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, births a multiplication of disciples and churches throughout the prioritized least-reached community and beyond.

Major Responsibilities & Functions

  1. Become an expert on the assigned least-reached community’s worldview.
  2. Develop and/or obtain gospel resources (Bibles, audio Scripture, chronological Bible stories, testimonies, videos, etc.) in the least-reached community’s language(s).
  3. Raise up labourers within the least-reached community, and recruit labourers from outside of the people group, to saturate the least-reached community with the gospel.
  4. Nurture a vision for the spread of the gospel, multiplication of disciples, and planting of churches among the least-reached community or least-reached affinity communities in a gateway city and through them to other communities of that people group around the world.
  5. Create and implement a comprehensive prayer, ministry, evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and leadership development strategy to stimulate church multiplication movements among the least-reached community.
  6. Continually learn and implement best practices in church multiplication.
  7. Collaborate with other evangelicals to model and train in evangelism, disciple making, church planting, and leadership development.
  8. As new believers emerge, give primary attention to them to nurture their role in leading multiplying movements of disciples and churches.
  9. Evaluate and adapt methods based on what God has done and is doing.
  10. Start multiple streams of disciple making and church planting to reach all population segments and networks of the least-reached community within the gateway city and their communities worldwide.

Accountability

  1. According to Global Gates Network of Canada’s policy, each new employee shall be subject to a 3-month probation period during which their work skills, performance and workplace attitude will be evaluated.
  2. Submit an annual report via email to their Hub Leader (copy the Executive Director) and have an annual review with them
  3. Meet weekly with like-minded team members who report to them, to assess their work, advise, troubleshoot, and pray with them
  4. Meet in person or video conference with their Global Gates Network of Canada coach (usually the Hub Leader, or Executive Director if no Hub Leader yet in their gateway) once a month to report/discuss/update them on their work responsibilities as to victories, struggles, challenges, future-oriented concerns and possibilities, etc. The Mission Catalyst will report directly to their Hub Leader
  5. Fill out a written monthly report submitted to their Hub Leader, reviewing the previous month’s highlights, metrics, victories, struggles, prodromes, and next steps.

Requirements and Desired Characteristics for Role

  1. Missionary Qualifications: Must meet the general qualifications ( Missionary Qualifications) required for Global Gates Network of Canada missionaries. The Mission Catalyst needs to have amassed sufficient ministry/leadership experience, and demonstrated serious missiological engagement with least-reached community thinking, as well as intercultural competencies. It is likely that most Mission Catalysts will onramp into their role via the Pathways and Mission Catalysts training processes if they do not have prior Mission Catalyst-type experience.
  2. Visionary: The Mission Catalyst needs to envision what God desires for the least-reached community in a particular gateway city and through the same least-reached people group communities around the world.
  3. Spiritual Mature: The Mission Catalyst needs to be spiritually mature and committed to sound evangelical beliefs and practices. He or she must know and obey God’s Word and point others to the authority of God’s Word. The Mission Catalyst must be a person of integrity. He or she is a person of prayer who expects God to demonstrate power in bringing the prioritized least-reached community to Christ.
  4. Strategic: The Mission Catalyst needs to align tools, time, relationships and resources, to accomplish God's vision for the least-reached community. He or she is strategic in partnering with the larger Body of Christ to accomplish more than one can do alone or on a small team.
  5. Intentional, focused, and disciplined: The Mission Catalyst needs to be a self-starter who is able to avoid distractions to maximize evangelism, discipleship and church multiplication among the prioritized least-reached community. The Mission Catalyst must discern what is most fruitful to do with their time, and with whom that time should be spent.
  6. A Learner: The Mission Catalyst must be a life-long learner committed to learning and sharing best practices for Kingdom advance among their least-reached community
  7. Passionate: The Mission Catalyst must have a sense of urgency. Members of the least-reached community are lost and dying every day without Jesus Christ.
  8. Faith-filled Perseverance: The Mission Catalyst has faith that God will reach the prioritized least-reached community. When obstacles arise, the Mission Catalyst tenaciously perseveres, clinging to the vision of the Lord birthing a church planting movement among the least-reached community.
  9. Validated: God validates a call to serve with Global Gates Network of Canada at the point of the Mission Catalyst showing willingness and capacity to experience the Lord’s blessing via raising the full financial support needed to live/minister in their role, just as most all other Global Gates Network of Canada missionaries do.
  10. Policy Alignment: agrees to sign and align with the Statement of Faith, Core Values, Standards of Moral Conduct, Marriage and Human Sexuality Statement, Sexual Harassment and Workplace Harrassment agreement forms, and all other relevant policies.
