About the role
Integer Technologies seeks a Lead Cyber Engineer to provide senior‑level technical leadership across research efforts supporting Navy‑relevant cyber‑physical systems. This role builds on the capabilities of a Senior Cyber Engineer with elevated expectations in engineering leadership, task planning, stakeholder engagement, and business development.
The Lead Cyber Engineer will help shape technical approaches, guide junior and mid‑career engineers, and serve as a key technical interface with both Navy sponsors and our LSU university partners, who play a central role in modeling, experimentation, and AI/ML research. The Lead Engineer will also contribute to business development and capture by helping identify new research directions, drafting technical proposal content, and supporting sponsor engagement. This position demands strong initiative, deep expertise in cyber‑physical research, and the ability to execute complex R&D with minimal oversight.
What you'll do
- Provide technical leadership across cyber‑physical R&D, helping structure tasking, refine approaches, and guide engineers performing modeling, analysis, dynamic defense development, and feasibility studies.
- Lead research into dynamic cyber defense methods, including vulnerability taxonomies, defensive strategies, mission‑impact metrics, and lifecycle‑aware resilience approaches.
- Drive AI/ML‑based anomaly detection research for embedded systems and support integration of advanced analytics into modeling and test environments.
- Develop and oversee bench‑scale experiments and digital modeling environments, ensuring experimental rigor and clear validation of cyber‑physical resilience concepts.
- Serve as a primary technical interface with LSU and other university partners, coordinating joint research activities, experiment planning, and shared modeling or AI/ML development tasks.
- Collaborate with Navy sponsors, program managers, and research teams to refine technical plans, present findings, and support assessment cycles.
- Contribute to business development and capture, including shaping new research directions, authoring technical proposal content, and maintaining relationships with government and academic stakeholders.
- Produce high‑quality documentation, including research papers, experiment reports, sponsor deliverables, and clear presentations of complex technical findings.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. Citizen able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience, or Master’s degree and 6 years of experience in cybersecurity, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline.
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience in cyber‑physical systems research, including modeling, simulation, vulnerability analysis, or dynamic defense concept development.
- Strong background in embedded systems cybersecurity, including memory forensics, fuzzing, and binary analysis.
- Experience with AI/ML‑enabled anomaly detection or modeling approaches for embedded systems.
- Experience designing, executing, or leading laboratory and simulation‑based experiments for cyber‑physical resilience assessment.
- Excellent communication skills for sponsor interaction, proposal development, and cross‑institution collaboration.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience collaborating directly with university research groups or academic laboratories.
- Familiarity with Navy ashore/afloat platforms and/or maritime cyber‑physical systems.
- Experience developing or applying mission‑impact models for cyber‑physical systems.
- Background with digital simulation environments.
- Experience contributing technical content to proposals, white papers, or long‑term research plans.
- Experience working in CUI environments or contributing to multi‑phase research deliverables.
