Technical Product Manager, Software Platform

About IP House

At IP House, we empower brands, legal professionals, and rights holders to manage and protect intellectual property—both online and offline—on a truly global scale. Through cutting-edge technology and deep cross-border expertise, we deliver scalable, end-to-end solutions for IP portfolio management, enforcement, and content and brand protection.

With over 700 experts operating across five continents, we are trusted by some of the world’s most recognized brands to combat counterfeiting, piracy, and IP infringement at scale. From digital platforms to physical marketplaces, we help clients safeguard what matters most—everywhere it matters.

Overview of the Role:

IP House is seeking a Technical Product Manager, Software Platform to act as the product counterpart to our engineering teams. You will support squads in delivering the roadmap, define requirements, and drive delivery alongside engineers who build using modern AI-assisted development tooling. You will also contribute to platform development and integration work, partnering with our Platform Product Manager, who owns platform architecture and shared services standards.

We work cross-functionally by design. Teams form around the problem rather than the org chart, drawing on expertise from product, engineering, client success, operations, legal, and commercial as each initiative requires.

What You’ll Do

  • Roadmap & Prioritization: Own and communicate the roadmap for the squads and initiatives you support. Prioritize against client value, commercial impact, and technical dependency, and make your sequencing rationale visible to engineering, commercial, and leadership.
  • Engineering Partnership: Act as the day-to-day product counterpart to engineering. Write clear technical requirements, join design and sprint reviews, and resolve ambiguity quickly so delivery is never blocked waiting on product.
  • AI-Assisted Delivery: Work with a team that uses AI coding agents such as Claude Code in its day-to-day workflow. Write specifications precise enough for both engineers and AI agents, and help adapt estimation, review, and quality practices to a faster development cycle.
  • Technical Trade-offs: Engage substantively on architecture, sequencing, and technical debt. Challenge trade-offs constructively and explain them to commercial stakeholders.
  • Platform Integration: Contribute to shared platform work within the architecture and shared services standards set by our Platform Product Manager, ensuring the products your squads support consume platform capabilities rather than duplicating them.
  • Cross-Functional Working: Contribute to initiatives across the business based on expertise and need rather than reporting lines, drawing in colleagues wherever their input is required.
  • Solution Definition & Enablement: Translate client, market, and business needs into actionable technical plans. Support go-to-market planning and enable internal teams on new capabilities.
  • Delivery Discipline: Help refine SDLC practices (Agile, SCRUM, release management) and report on delivery metrics and product performance to drive continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

  • 5 to 8 years in technical product management or software platform roles in SaaS or technology-enabled environments. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong grasp of system architecture, APIs, data pipelines, and Agile/DevOps practice, and hands-on experience with tools such as Jira (including Jira Product Discovery), Miro, PostHog, and SQL.
  • Practical experience working with engineering teams that use AI coding agents such as Claude Code, and sound judgment on where they accelerate delivery and where they introduce risk to quality, security, or maintainability.
  • A track record of building and defending a roadmap across multiple squads or initiatives, making trade-offs under real constraint, and explaining the reasoning to engineering, commercial, and executive audiences.
  • A genuinely collaborative operator, comfortable where teams form around expertise rather than fixed reporting lines, and equally willing to lead a workstream or contribute to someone else’s.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, able to simplify complex technical topics for non-technical and executive audiences.
  • Comfortable in a globally distributed team, with the flexibility to overlap regularly with colleagues in the UK and the Americas.

Salary (ZAR) 42,000-R60,000 per month, dependent on experience.
