Senior Data & AI Architect, Technology, Data and AI Advisory
Who we are
Leo Berwick is an innovative mergers and acquisitions consulting firm. We are comprised of experienced advisors from global law and accounting firms that add value to transactions as trusted partners throughout the deal life cycle. At Leo Berwick, we hire the best and the brightest. Our teams deliver a dedicated and customized service to every client.
Within Leo Berwick, our technology, data and AI team works with infrastructure and private equity clients, and private market investors and their portfolio companies, across the full deal lifecycle, from M&A services to AI strategy and execution. We believe technology can have an outsized impact on firm performance and enterprise value.
As a growth-stage firm, we move quickly, work collaboratively, and value people who take initiative and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Our culture is grounded in high performance, continuous learning, and the shared ambition to build something exceptional, together.
What we are looking for
We build data and AI solutions that drive real business outcomes for private equity portfolio companies. We're looking for a Senior Data Architect who can set the data architecture vision, stay hands-on through implementation, and grow a high-performing team around them.
We’re hiring a Senior Data Architect to design, build, and scale modern data platforms in PE-backed environments — this is a senior, hands-on leadership role. You'll own the data architecture (platforms, integration, modeling, and governance) that powers analytics and AI, from the first whiteboard session with a client through deployment and adoption. You'll work with data engineers, business analysts, and data visualization specialists, and have influence over who joins that team. You'll also have the flexibility to lean into other areas of the firm as we grow, including business development, commercial strategy, and internal AI enablement initiatives.
If you want a role where you can build something, this is a high-impact seat.
You’re the right fit for this role if –
- You want to help build and shape practice offerings, not just deliver within an existing playbook
- You want equity participation tied to the value you create
- You thrive with direct access to leadership and want accelerated career growth
- You’re energized by breadth: working across industries, deal stages, and problem types alongside C-suite portco leaders and PE sponsors
What you'll do
- Define target-state data architectures and deliver scalable, pragmatic data platforms that support analytics and AI
- Lead delivery across the full project lifecycle, including discovery, design, development, testing & validation, deployment, hypercare, and monitoring & observability
- Design and build enterprise data models (conceptual, logical, and physical) that are clean, well-documented, and represent the business
- Lead a cross-functional team of data engineers, analysts, and visualization specialists
- Mentor data engineers, analysts, and specialists, and set architecture, modeling, and engineering standards. Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical clients and stakeholders
- Build the data foundations (quality, governance, lineage, and access) that make AI use cases viable, with a clear view on where AI creates real value and how to scale repeatable solutions
- Stay hands-on: build pipelines and transformations, write SQL and Python, configure platforms, and review the team's code
- Present architectural recommendations and roadmaps to client leadership, including CIOs, CTOs, and PE deal teams, and participate in steering committees throughout engagements
- Contribute to firm-wide commercial and strategic initiatives, including reusable reference architectures and delivery accelerators
What you bring
- Proven track record designing and delivering enterprise data platforms with clear business impact (8+ years in data engineering or architecture, including 3+ in an architect or technical lead role)
- Deep expertise in data architecture and modeling (dimensional, Data Vault, lakehouse/medallion) and data governance, with an ability to drive adoption with clients
- Hands-on experience with modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, dbt) and familiarity with applied AI use cases like RAG and agent workflows
- Experience leading and developing technical teams, enabling individuals across diverse skill sets to perform at their best
- Hands-on builder with experience writing production-grade SQL and Python and building data pipelines at scale
- Genuine curiosity about AI, with strong judgment on where it applies
Compensation
This is a permanent full-time role with a base salary range of $180 000 – $210 000 USD, plus bonus eligibility. Placement within the range will depend on relevant experience and scope of responsibility.
Benefits
This role is eligible for comprehensive health benefits, attractive medical and dental insurance, and paid time off.
