About the Role

The Legal Assistant will reliably and skillfully support the legal team by conducting detailed criminal and immigration analysis across a wide range of case types and procedural stages. This role requires a thorough understanding of USCIS forms, FOIA and FBI record review processes, and nuanced procedures such as case corrections, supplements, and type changes. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for launching and interpreting legal and criminal research, collaborating through internal platforms (including CSC chatters and rescreens), and ensuring that legal strategies align with both case-specific needs and organizational protocols.


Your Key Contributions

  • Summarize FBI, USCIS, OBIM, and CBP records clearly and accurately, often reviewing several hundred pages at a time.
  • Identify and extract key information related to entries, exits, and grounds of inadmissibility.
  • Cross-reference records against internal case information (KCI) to detect discrepancies.
  • Review submitted packets and note all required updates across forms and declarations when discrepancies are found.
  • Complete LA FOIA Review notes, indicating whether records require no change, minor updates, or a formal supplement.
  • Draft the body of the supplement cover letter when major changes are identified and launch the appropriate supplement taskset.
  • Other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by management.


What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Possesses excellent English, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Prior understanding of FOIAs.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask and handle or delegate responsibilities efficiently
  • Highly motivated with a strong determination to help.
  • Strong organizational skills and adaptability to changes in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and time manage themselves.
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required, with legal education or certification preferred


Work Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern Time.

  • At least 8 GB of memory (RAM) to run applications smoothly
  • A fast hard drive with sufficient available storage
