Software Engineer


We are looking for a software engineer who has a genuine interest in learning, implementing and solving complex problems. Our ideal candidate is someone with three or more years of experience working on software applications. We need someone who can adapt quickly and add value to our fast paced, growing business and also someone who can contribute collaboratively within our software development team.

Through our suite of internal and external web applications, APIs and proprietary calculators we handle valuable information on behalf of our clients. The technologies we build allow us to scale the expertise we have established over more than a decade to effectively manage the massive datasets modern business leaders face. We value engineers who are excited about technology and how it can improve workflows, reduce resource consumption and be used to creatively solve problems. Responsibilities: 

  • Builds software applications – Follows coding standards, builds appropriate unit tests, integration tests and deployment scripts
  • Assists in refining software architectures – Collaborates with leads to explore existing systems, determines areas of complexity, potential risks to successful implementation, learns the applications capabilities
  • Communicates continually with the client and project teams – Explains progress on the development effort
  • Owns success – Takes responsibility for successful delivery of the solutions
  • Contributes to continual improvement by suggesting improvements to user interface, software architecture or new technologies

 

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3-5 years of experience with design, maintenance and development with SQL / relational databases
  • Expertise in at least one compiled language (Java, C, C#, etc)
  • Expertise in at least one interpreted language (JavaScript, Python, Powershell, etc)
  • Experience working with REST APIs and/or SOAP APIs
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles, frameworks and technologies
  • Great problem solving and design skills, with demonstrated passion for quality
  • Takes initiative and is able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to communicate effectively


Preferred Consideration Given For:

  • Experience with React, nodeJS, Typescript
  • Experience working in an agile development process
  • Experience working with distributed source control systems (GIT)
  • Experience developing AWS or cloud provider technologies


Hybrid, 1 day/week in the Minneapolis, MN office.

The base pay range for this role is $85,000 – $100,000.  Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.
