Kitchen Team Member (Dish & Prep) – Mamahuhu Inner Richmond

Mamahuhu is built around the idea that food brings people, communities, and cultures together. Chinese-American food is a perfect example: a cuisine that began in China, grew up in America, and still brings people together for joyful, shared moments. We celebrate that tradition with thoughtful new takes on classic dishes that are fun, nourishing, and delicious.

As we grow, we're looking for hardworking team members to help bring our vision of Chinese-American food to life, one full plate at a time.

Mamahuhu's founding team includes Brandon Jew of Mister Jiu's in San Francisco's Chinatown, and Anmao Sun and Ben Moore of Hunter Gatherer, a farm-to-table restaurant group in Shanghai, China. Our experience runs from fine dining to fast casual and from China to California. We share a love for Chinese-American food and a commitment to sustainability, quality sourcing, and community.

Our mission is simple: to create Happier and Healthier Communities by spreading the joy of Chinese-American fare and tradition.

About the Role

Our kitchen is built around a custom wok range with 120,000 BTU burners. Cooking that fast only works when everything is ready before service starts: vegetables cut, meats marinated and sliced thin, sauces made, and everything in its place. That's where you come in.

As a Kitchen Team Member on dish and prep, you keep the kitchen running. You'll prep ingredients to recipe standards, keep the dish station moving so the line never runs out of clean wares, and help the whole back-of-house team stay set up for a smooth service.

  • Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Weekend availability required

  • Run the dish station: wash, sanitize, and put away dishes, pots, utensils, and smallwares
  • Label, date, rotate, and restock product using FIFO (First-In, First-Out)
  • Watch prep levels and let the team know when items are running low
  • Keep the dish area, prep stations, and walk-in clean and organized
  • Set up and break down stations using restaurant checklists
  • Follow SF Health Department practices (e.g., changing sanitizer buckets, food safety protocols)
  • Take out trash, recycling, and compost, and help with other side work
  • Support the line and the team as needed
  • Complete tasks assigned by restaurant and kitchen management
