DevOps Engineer
Overview
MD Integrations (MDI) is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support and enhance our cloud infrastructure. As a growing company, we are focused on scaling, standardizing, securing, and optimizing our AWS environment while expanding our use of Infrastructure as Code and automation.
This role will be instrumental in maintaining and improving our cloud infrastructure, increasing automation, supporting production reliability, and helping modernize how infrastructure is deployed and managed. The engineer will work closely with backend developers and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless system functionality and reliable software delivery.
The ideal candidate is DevOps-focused with a strong systems engineering foundation. Strong practical knowledge of AWS, Linux, networking, Infrastructure as Code, security, and automation is essential. This position reports directly to the Sr. Director, Systems Operations and is fully remote. Availability during and after core business hours may be required as business needs dictate.
What You’ll Be Accountable For
- Infrastructure as Code & AWS Infrastructure
- Implement, maintain, and optimize AWS infrastructure across services such as EC2, ECS/Fargate, ECR, VPCs, IAM, load balancers, WAF, AWS Firewall, Security Groups, and S3.
- Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and help reduce reliance on manually configured cloud resources while improving consistency across environments.
- Administer and optimize Linux systems and automate infrastructure, deployment, and configuration tasks using tools such as Terraform, Bash, Python, or JavaScript.
- DevOps & Software Delivery
- Collaborate with backend engineering and other technical teams to improve deployment workflows and software delivery processes.
- Apply significant hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines to help design, troubleshoot, improve, and standardize deployment workflows.
- Support containerized applications and infrastructure using technologies such as Docker, ECS/Fargate, and ECR while improving deployment reliability, repeatability, security, and automation.
- Security, Networking & Reliability
- Maintain secure AWS networking infrastructure including VPCs, routing, VPNs, load balancers, DNS, SSL/TLS, firewalls, and Security Groups.
- Implement and monitor AWS security controls including IAM policies, encryption, network security rules, logging, GuardDuty, AWS Config, CloudTrail, and Security Hub.
- Support highly available and scalable infrastructure with appropriate redundancy, failover, resiliency, and security practices aligned with ISO 27001, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
- Monitoring, Incident Response & Disaster Recovery
- Manage and improve monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions such as CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Better Stack, DataDog, or New Relic.
- Support incident response and troubleshooting across production and development AWS environments, proactively identifying recurring reliability or performance issues.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, resiliency, and recovery testing using AWS Backup or comparable technologies.
- Operational Improvement & Projects
- Identify opportunities to improve AWS efficiency, right-size resources, reduce unnecessary cloud spend, and automate repetitive operational tasks.
- Work with Cloudflare and similar technologies supporting CDN, WAF, DDoS mitigation, traffic routing, and edge security.
- Work closely with external MSPs, contractors, and internal teams to coordinate infrastructure modernization projects, track progress, and ensure initiatives meet business and technical needs.
Your Work DNA
- Automation-focused – You look for opportunities to replace repetitive manual work with reliable automation.
- Strong systems thinker – You understand networking, Linux, cloud infrastructure, and how application systems interact.
- DevOps-minded – You work collaboratively with engineering teams to improve infrastructure and software delivery.
- Security-focused – You incorporate security into infrastructure design and operational practices.
- Proactive problem solver – You identify issues early and work toward durable solutions.
- Strong communicator – You can explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-starter – You take ownership of your work and can function independently with minimal supervision.
Your Background

- 5+ years of experience in DevOps Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related role.
- Extensive practical AWS experience across networking, security, cloud infrastructure, and production systems.
- Experience with managed Terraform platforms such as HCP Terraform, Scalr, Terraform Enterprise, or similar is strongly preferred.
- Significant experience designing, supporting, troubleshooting, or improving CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows.
- Experience with containerized workloads using technologies such as Docker, ECS/Fargate, and ECR.
- Strong Linux system administration and scripting experience using Bash, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Experience designing, managing, and optimizing highly available and scalable systems.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking including VPCs, routing, DNS, SSL/TLS, VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, and production incident response.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar compliance frameworks.
- Experience with cloud cost optimization, backup, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency.
- Experience with Cloudflare or comparable CDN, WAF, edge security, or Zero Trust technologies is preferred.
- Experience coordinating projects with MSPs, contractors, and internal engineering teams.
