The Role

NCD is looking for a Manager, FP&A to own the budget, the forecast, and the models behind them. You will work directly with the CFO and with the leaders who run sales, product, and operations. This is a hands-on role: you build and run the models yourself, and you are comfortable going into the data to find the answer. Finance at NCD already uses AI tools in its daily work, and we want someone who is excited to use them to make planning faster and more accurate.

Summary

NCD earns its revenue as broker of record, program administrator, and administrator for its carrier partners, paid through commissions and administrative fees on premium. Results depend on member enrollment, persistency, distributor mix, and carrier terms. The business is growing and adding products, and the planning process has to grow with it. The Manager, FP&A turns those drivers into the plan, the forecast, and the analysis that leadership uses to make decisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own the annual budget and the monthly and quarterly reforecast. Build and maintain the driver-based model: members, premium, commission and fee rates, persistency, and acquisition cost.
  • Produce monthly budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analysis with written commentary for the CFO and executive team.
  • Build and maintain P&Ls by carrier program, product line, and distribution channel.
  • Model carrier and distributor economics, including commission structures, advances and chargebacks, experience-rated reserves, and profit-sharing arrangements.
  • Build the cash flow and liquidity forecast, and prepare lender reporting packages.
  • Analyze new products, distributor agreements, and acquisitions: pricing, unit economics, payback, and scenarios.
  • Work with the Data team to define the metrics Finance relies on (members, persistency, lifetime value, acquisition cost) and move recurring reporting from spreadsheets into dashboards.
  • Use AI tools to speed up and improve Finance's recurring work: pulling data for variance commentary, reconciling figures across systems, drafting lender and audit request packages, and documenting models so that both people and AI tools can work with them.
  • Work with Accounting on close timing and accruals, and reconcile the forecast to the general ledger.
  • Document models and processes so that others can run, review, and audit them. Support requests from the annual audit.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must-Have Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, corporate development, or Big 4 audit, transaction, or advisory work.
  • Advanced Excel modeling: three-statement models, driver-based forecasts, and scenario analysis, built so that another analyst can follow them.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP financial statements and how operating drivers flow to the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow.
  • Comfort working with data directly, through SQL or a BI tool, rather than waiting for someone else to pull it.
  • Clear written communication. You can explain a variance to a non-finance executive in a few sentences.
  • Works independently in a remote team and meets deadlines without close supervision.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • 1-2 years in investment banking or at a Big 4 firm.
  • Experience building or scaling FP&A processes at a growing company, such as moving the budget onto a repeatable calendar, starting a regular reforecast, or building KPI reporting from scratch.
  • Interest in data analytics, with hands-on SQL and experience with BigQuery, dbt, Omni, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Experience in insurance, insurance distribution, healthcare, or another business with commission or recurring revenue.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or a planning tool such as Adaptive, Pigment, or Cube.
  • Excited about using AI to improve how finance work gets done, with examples: building a model faster, automating a recurring reconciliation or report, or querying data in plain English through a BI tool.

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 to 180 Days

  • By 90 days: you know the revenue model, the carrier and distributor economics, and the current planning workbooks. You have run a full monthly variance cycle and delivered a reforecast.
  • By 180 days: you own the next budget cycle. Monthly reporting runs on a fixed calendar. At least one recurring report has moved from a spreadsheet to a dashboard with the Data team, and the core models are documented.
