Technical Writer

About Nerdio

At Nerdio, our mission is to simplify the lives of IT professionals and maximize their Microsoft cloud and end user computing investments.

We support organizations of all sizes looking to deploy, manage, and cost-optimize native Microsoft technologies. We partner with Enterprises and Managed Service Providers all over the world to add value on top of their existing native Microsoft investments like Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), Windows 365, and Microsoft Intune.

Created in 2016, Nerdio has always taken a market-leading and collaborative approach to cloud deployment and management. In fact, our product roadmap is greatly influenced by the regular feedback we receive from having seen companies deploy AVD into production environments several thousand times using Nerdio technology.

Today, Nerdio is used in over 50 countries by more than 15,000 organizations of every size and vertical. We’re committed to delivering exceptional service and support, which starts with identifying and supporting the best staff possible.

We are a fast-moving, nimble company looking for individuals who are collaborative, empathetic, driven and who love to move at the speed of light. If you want to be part of the AVD transformation that Microsoft and Nerdio are leading, then we want to speak with you.

About the role

We're growing fast, and there's never been a better time to join our technical documentation team. If you're an experienced communicator who’s passionate about making complex technology clear, accessible, and genuinely useful, we want to hear from you!

What you’ll do

You’ll be deeply embedded within the software development lifecycle, creating accessible, user-friendly and localizable documentation for our market-leading Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) management tools. You’ll work with designers and engineers who are simplifying the transformation of legacy IT infrastructure to Microsoft Azure-driven cloud-based solutions. Drawing on your expertise and experience with XML structured authoring tools and processes, you’ll  work across the full documentation lifecycle – from research and testing, through writing and source management, to localization and publishing. You’ll have the opportunity to put your creative muscles to good use, using a range of premium AI tools and scripting languages including Python, JavaScript, and PowerShell to improve and automate processes.

What we’re looking for

Bring your whole self (and your nerd cred)

More than anything, we want a team player who's genuinely fired up about the world of software development: someone who picks up new skills fast and approaches every challenge with a growth mindset and a creative spark.

Required Qualifications

The right person for this role will have:

  • The proven ability to identify and profile a target audience and write technically accurate, engaging content tailored to their needs. (Be prepared to share work you’re proud of and talk us through why it represents tech writing at its best!)
  • Experience creating and source managing XML structured content, including advanced applications such as variable resolution, content reuse, multichannel output and multilingual publishing.
  • A deep understanding of the end-to-end design of the software user experience and the role technical documentation plays in shaping that experience.
  • Solid organization and time management skills. You’ll often be working on several projects at different stages, so you’ll need to prioritize effectively and keep tasks on track.
  • A passion for using and improving software. (If you're active in open-source development communities or have built your own tools, we especially want to hear from you.)
  • A curiosity about AI and process automation, and a drive to explore how these tools can make documentation smarter, faster, and more impactful.
  • A creative, problem-solving attitude, and the confidence to pitch your ideas to senior managers, create prototypes, and demonstrate the value of switching up the way we do things.

Preferred Qualifications

You don’t need to have all of these, but they may put you ahead of otherwise similar candidates:

  • Direct knowledge/experience of VDI and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience migrating documentation between tool stacks while maintaining service levels, and of handling post-migration cleanup and maintenance.
  • A track record of delivering localization projects at scale using a Translation Management System (TMS).
  • Experience working with engineers and project managers to deliver software releases within Azure DevOps or a similar environment.
