Overland AI

Technical Sourcer

About Overland AI

Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Overland AI is transforming land operations for modern defense. The company leverages over a decade of advanced research in robotics and machine learning, as well as a field-test forward ethos, to deliver combined capabilities for unit commanders. Our OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate and operate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control. Our intuitive OverWatch C2 interface provides commanders with precise coordination capabilities essential for mission success.

Overland AI has secured funding from prominent defense tech investors including 8VC and Point 72, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations.

Role Summary:

We are seeking a high-ownership, full-cycle Contract Technical Recruiter to help scale Overland AI during a critical phase of growth. This role will be responsible for driving hiring across our technical teams, partnering closely with our internal recruiter, hiring managers and leadership to identify and close exceptional talent.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and brings a strong ability to source, assess, and close candidates for highly technical roles. You will play a key role in shaping how we build the team—balancing speed, quality, and candidate experience. This position can be remote, or based in Seattle, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own sourcing for engineering and technical roles across the company, including software, autonomy, perception, and robotics.
  • Map the talent landscape for our core disciplines. Know which companies, teams, programs, and geographies have the people we need, and keep that knowledge current.
  • Identify and engage passive candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter, professional communities, referral networks, and creative outreach channels.
  • Build and maintain long-term candidate relationships so we have warm pipelines ready when roles open, not cold outreach every time.
  • Partner with recruiters and hiring managers to translate hiring needs into sourcing strategies. Help calibrate on what great looks like for each role.
  • Develop market intelligence: compensation benchmarks, talent availability, competitor hiring activity, and emerging talent pools that inform our broader recruiting strategy.
  • Write outreach that sounds like a real person who understands what candidates actually work on, not a templated InMail.
  • Track sourcing metrics (response rates, passthrough rates, source of hire) and use data to refine your approach over time.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of sourcing experience for technical roles, ideally in robotics, autonomy, defense, or related hardware/software industries.
  • Strong Boolean search skills and hands-on experience with sourcing tools (LinkedIn Recruiter, SeekOut, HireEZ, ClearanceJobs, GitHub, or similar).
  • Experience building candidate pipelines for hard-to-fill engineering roles, not just responding to inbound applicants.
  • Enough technical literacy to understand the difference between a perception engineer and a controls engineer, and to have a real conversation with candidates about their work.
  • Comfort working in a small, fast-moving team where you'll have a lot of autonomy and ownership over your function.
  • Strong written communication. Your outreach messages should be specific, personalized, and reflect genuine understanding of the candidate's background.
  • A data-driven mindset. You track what's working, experiment with new approaches, and adjust based on results.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience sourcing for security-cleared positions or familiarity with ITAR/export control requirements in recruiting.
  • Background sourcing for robotics, autonomous vehicles, or perception/ML roles specifically.
  • Experience with Ashby, Greenhouse, or similar ATS platforms.
  • Familiarity with the defense tech talent ecosystem: who's hiring, who's leaving, which programs are winding down.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve sourcing workflows, candidate research, or outreach personalization.

Benefits:

Overland AI believes in creating a work environment that you look forward to embracing every day. This is a 9-month contract-to-hire position, with the goal of transitioning to full-time employment based on performance and mutual fit.

  • Hourly range for this position is $50 – $70 USD during the contract period, with potential for conversion to a full-time salaried role.
  • Upon conversion to full-time, you will be eligible for our full benefits package, including:
    • Best-in-class healthcare, dental and vision plans
    • Flexible PTO
    • 401k with company match
    • Parental leave
