Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and implement health and safety programs and policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes.
- Provide safety training and education to employees.
- Maintain and update safety documentation and records.
- Coordinate emergency response plans and drills.
- Advise management on safety and environmental concerns.
- Monitor and analyze work environments and processes for potential hazards.
- Recommend corrective actions and improvements to safety practices.
- Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory agencies.
- Lead risk assessment initiatives and hazard identification.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on safety issues.
- Manage waste disposal and pollution control programs.
- Act as the site Biohazard representative.
- Coordinate and perform sit PHA’s and PSSR’s
- Perform yearly fit testing for team members.
- Schedule and coordinate with contractor to perform annual IH monitoring.
- Develop and maintain the site safe work permitting program.
- Stay current with changes in environmental health and safety regulations.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate…
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, or related field
- Certification in Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA, NEBOSH, etc.)
- Experience with environmental compliance and waste management.
- Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations
- Proficiency in risk assessment and hazard identification techniques
- Strong communication and training skills
- Ability to analyze data and generate reports.
- Experience with industrial hygiene practices.
- Project management skills
- Familiarity with emergency response planning and coordination
- Proven track record of successfully managing safety programs.
- Membership in professional safety organizations
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, or a related field
- 2-4 years of experience in health and safety
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state regulations
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and safety management software
- Physical capability to conduct field inspections.
- Valid driver’s license
- Certification in First Aid and CPR
Travel Requirements:
· Travel four to six times per year
