Qnetic was founded with the mission to enable the transition to clean, sustainable energy. To achieve it, we are developing a high-performance energy storage system for the electric grid, based on new flywheel technology. It delivers ‘energy shifting’ at a lower cost than anything we know about. Compared to lithium-ion batteries, Qnetic has 3x the lifetime, 2x the discharge duration, 0.5x the cost and 0x the degradation.
We’re building something fundamentally different — and we’re looking for people who are driven to solve hard challenges, do meaningful work, and make a real impact on the future of energy.
About the role
The Senior Composite Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) of Qnetic’s high-speed carbon fiber rotor for flywheel energy storage systems. This role is focused on the development of advanced composite structures operating under extreme rotational and cyclic loading conditions, with particular emphasis on the rotor body and its interfaces with metallic shafts and mechanical components. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in composite structure design and manufacturing, especially filament winding processes for highperformance carbon fiber structures. Experience with composite lamination, Automated Fiber Placement (AFP), and other advanced composite manufacturing techniques is also valued. The Senior Composite Engineer will use advanced composite FEA tools and filament winding manufacturing software to optimize structural performance, manufacturability, reliability, and cost. The role requires close collaboration with CAE, manufacturing, testing, and mechanical design teams to develop next-generation flywheel energy storage technology.
