 About The Role

The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring all welding and fabrication activities comply with applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements. This position oversees inspection, testing, documentation, and verification of welding activities to maintain the highest level of product integrity and customer satisfaction. 

 

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabricated assemblies
  • Verify base materials, welding consumables, and compliance with WPS requirements
  • Monitor welding operations to ensure adherence to AWS, ASME, and project specifications
  • Coordinate and support NDT activities (UT, MT, PT, RT)
  • Maintain inspection reports, quality records, NCRs, and project turnover documentation
  • Witness welder qualification testing and maintain welder continuity records
  • Collaborate with fabrication teams, project managers, and customer inspectors to resolve quality concerns
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote a strong safety culture

What You Need

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
  • 3–5+ years of welding inspection experience in fabrication, structural steel, or piping environments
  • Strong working knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and B31.1/B31.3 code
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, WPS, and PQR documentation
  • Familiarity with NDT methods preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and quality documentation processes
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Combination of fabrication shop, construction site, and field work
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions and access elevated or confined spaces
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and perform inspections for extended periods
  • Travel up to 25% as needed for project support
