Inventory Control Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Inventory Specialist will be working onsite at our Corporate Headquarters in Troy, MI. They will work closely with and support warehouse personnel, field operations and Finance to ensure all are following consistent inventory procedures.  The Inventory Specialist will provide reliable reporting and drives root-cause solutions while the Inventory Manager retains responsibility for purchasing, replenishment and supplier relationships.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inventory Reconciliation & Accuracy

·        Reconcile physical inventory counts against inventory balances

·        Monitor inventory accuracy across all warehouses and satellite locations.

·        Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.

·        Coordinate cycle counts and periodic physical inventory counts

·        Validate inventory adjustments and ensure proper documentation and approvals.

·        Reconcile inventory transfers, receipts, returns and material usage to ensure accurate system records.

Discrepancy Investigation & Resolution

·        Research inventory variances to determine root causes

·        Work directly with warehouse teams and field management to resolve discrepancies and prevent recurrences.

·        Escalate unresolved or recurring inventory issues to management.

·        Recommend process improvements

Reporting & Inventory Controls

·        Prepare regular inventory accuracy, variance, and reconciliation reports.

·        Monitor outstanding inventory discrepancies and ensure timely follow-up and resolution.

·        Identify trends, recurring errors, and locations requiring additional oversight.

·        Maintain accurate records and supporting documentation for inventory transactions and adjustments.

·        Support month-end inventory reconciliation and reporting requirements.

·        Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures for inventory controls.

System & Field Inventory Support

·        Provide daily Business Central and i360 support, troubleshooting inventory transactions, pick list issues, returns, color changes, and project reprocessing.

·        Monitor and resolve daily inventory exceptions

·        Support and train Field Inventory Managers and warehouse personnel on proper inventory procedures and system transactions.

·        Ensure inventory transfers are properly recorded, shipped, received, and reconciled

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

·        Strong attention to detail, inventory accuracy and transaction discipline.

·        Strong Excel skills

·        Ability to manage multiple open issues and coach warehouse and field users.

·        Ability to recognize recurring control failures and recommend practical process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        2+ years in inventory control, inventory reconciliation, warehouse administration, accounting support or related operations.

·        Experience with physical counts, ERP inventory transactions and discrepancy investigation.

·        Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and i360 experience preferred.

·        Multi-location distribution, flooring, construction materials or warehouse experience preferred.
