Organizing Copywriter

Reports to: Deputy Director of Programs, Content

Location: Remote

Classification: Full-time

ABOUT RELENTLESS

Relentless builds technology and programs to activate low-turnout voters and unlock political power. Our core program, the Rally Organizing model, is a civic education, persuasion, and mobilization program that compensates low-turnout voters for their time as they become Voting Ambassadors in their communities. Rally, Relentless’s flagship platform, allows campaigns and organizations to relationally organize at scale, resolve fractured and anonymized identities across online communities, and build progressive digital infrastructure that meets the moment we’re in.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Organizing Copywriter is a full-time role for a writer who's ready to write and edit the words that get people excited about our programs and ready to take action. You'll write the participant-facing copy across Relentless programs — the emails and texts people get at each step, the copy that powers live events, the social posts, and the in-app copy in Rally — that guides tens of thousands of people through learning about upcoming elections and turning out their friends and family to vote.

You take complicated policy and voting information and make it simple, clear, and easy to act on, always assuming a refresher explanation is helpful. You can write copy that’s friendly, positive, empowering, matter-of-fact, educational, and straightforward, and you shift your tone and voice to fit each audience and program moment. You're comfortable doing research, working from existing templates, moving fast, and turning around edits on a deadline. If you're a sharp, detail-oriented writer who's energized by variety and by making complex things feel easy, this role is built for you.

This is a full-time cycle role with an end date of November 15th, 2026.

DETAILS & COMPENSATION

Location: Remote

Compensation: $5,250/month

Schedule: Full-time

Hours Expectations: This role requires a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, to accommodate recruitment and event volume. We anticipate a six day workweek in the final stretch, starting in October and running through Election Day.

JOB DUTIES

  • Write the emails and texts participants get at each step of the program, nudging them toward the next action (we call these "Chase" messages).
  • Write copy for live events, including run-of-show scripts, slide text, and sample chat messages.
  • Research candidates, elections, and issues to write event video scripts, and see them through editing and approval.
  • Write social media copy, including captions, posts, and sample comments and DMs.
  • Write copy for Rally, our organizing platform, when needed — sign-up forms, short election explainers, and action instructions.
  • Create a bank of FAQs, writing & editing clear answers to the questions participants ask most and updating them as new ones come up.
  • Turn complicated policy and voting information into clear, compelling copy that gets people excited to take action.
  • Work from existing templates and past materials, adapting tone and voice to each audience and program moment.
  • Use our tools — Notion, Canva, Google Workspace, and Slack — to do the work, collaborate across teams, and deliver great work on time.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as they come up, with the expectation that your day-to-day mix of work will shift with program needs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1–3 years of experience writing copy, ideally in organizing, advocacy, campaigns, nonprofits, or another mission-driven setting.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
  • A knack for making complicated information simple, accessible, and exciting for everyday people.
  • Can adapt tone and voice across different audiences, formats, and program moments.
  • Comfortable and energized by fast-paced, evolving environments and juggling multiple projects on deadline.
  • Comfort with tools like Notion, Canva, Google Workspace, and Slack, or the ability to learn them quickly.
  • Access to a computer and reliable internet.

We're excited about candidates who are early in their career, with some hands-on experience, and an eagerness to grow.

HOW TO APPLY

In lieu of a cover letter, we'll ask you to answer a couple of short-answer questions and to include a link to 2-3 samples of your writing. It can be as simple as a PDF or a website, and it doesn't need to be fancy — share projects that you’re proud of and that show your writing skills.
