Team Overview

At Rippling, the Accounting Platform team sits at the critical intersection of product innovation and financial infrastructure. Our mission is to empower finance teams to move from traditional month-end closes to real-time accounting by seamlessly connecting Rippling’s platform with the world’s most widely-used ERP systems including NetSuite, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle, and more.

We build robust, bi-directional integrations that serve both Rippling’s internal products (like Payroll, Spend Management, Procurement, and Travel) and external ERPs used by our customers. These integrations power complex accounting workflows such as journal syncing, reconciliation, audit readiness, and more, enabling our customers to automate the most repetitive and error-prone financial operations.

As Rippling expands globally and moves upmarket to serve large enterprises, the Accounting Platform team is at the forefront of unlocking key use cases and supporting new geographies, integrations, and accounting standards. This team also operates in a high-velocity, continuous delivery environment, tackling a wide surface area of capabilities, systems, and support scenarios.

If you want to build an org that makes accounts close reliable at scale — through managers, staffing, and clear ownership, this is the team for you.

About the role

Rippling is building the future of accounting and we’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to help make that vision a reality.

In this high-impact role, you’ll be at the center of transforming Rippling’s global accounting system leveraging AI-driven solutions and modern engineering practices to unify and scale accounting operations across multiple countries.

This is a rare opportunity to own the charter and design of one of Rippling’s core product pillars from the ground up. You’ll lead initiatives that span the entire development lifecycle, from defining and scoping new product functionality to deploying critical systems for scale, accuracy, and performance. We need a leader who will go deep, get their hands dirty, and drive the technical and operational transformation from the front.

What you will do

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager who combines technical depth with strong execution instincts. This role requires someone who can earn the trust of a senior engineering team by understanding the system as well as they do — and then leading it to a better place.

  • Technical Depth: Must be comfortable going deep into complex systems — reading code, debugging production issues, reviewing architecture, and identifying root causes. Hands-on instinct is essential at this stage of the team's journey.
  • Operational Transformation: Experience taking a high-toil, operationally demanding system and driving it toward stability and autonomy. Track record of identifying systemic issues and fixing them, not just managing around them.
  • Product & Platform Experience: Hands-on experience building scalable platform systems end-to-end. Comfortable owning both technical architecture and product outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams — Payroll, Compliance, Spend Engineering, and global stakeholders.
  • Execution-Driven: Clear track record of setting roadmaps, defining milestones, and shipping in high-ambiguity environments.
  • People Leadership: Minimum 5 years in a managerial role, including 2+ years managing managers, with 7–8 years as an IC prior.
  • Domain Affinity: Experience in accounting, payroll, fintech, or high-correctness financial systems is strongly preferred.
  • Communication: Clear and effective communication, especially across distributed teams and with non-engineering stakeholders.
  • Experience Range: Total 12–15 years (IC + Managerial).
