Product Director

Help us get medicines to market faster

At Vimachem, we build the software that powers pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturing. Since 2015, we've developed the industry's only AI-enabled MES platform purpose-built for Life Sciences, combining MES, IIoT, and Pharma 4.0 capabilities into a single, modern system used across pharma sites globally.

We're growing rapidly and expanding our product team. We've been recognized as a "Great Place to Work" for multiple consecutive years, and our culture is fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven.

About the role

Vimachem’s GMP Efficiency product line is powered by real-time data from 300+ connected machines across pharmaceutical manufacturing sites. This creates a unique opportunity to build AI-driven products in an industry where high-quality, structured manufacturing data is extremely rare.

You will work at the intersection of:

  • Real-time industrial data (IIoT)
  • Manufacturing analytics (OEE, process efficiency)
  • AI/ML applications (anomaly detection, performance insights, optimization)

Unlike most AI roles that rely on synthetic or limited datasets, you will have access to live production data from regulated pharmaceutical environments, enabling you to build high-impact, real-world AI applications.

A note on the title. This is a Director role because of scope and accountability - you own a full product line, set its direction, and are answerable for its commercial outcomes. But it is a hands-on, individual-contributor role. You will personally write specs, run backlog refinement, sit with engineering, demo the product, and join customer implementations. We are not looking for someone who wants to step away from the craft of product management.

You will operate across three dimensions:

  • Hands-on product ownership - Personally drive the roadmap, write detailed requirements, prioritize the backlog, and work hands-on with engineering through sprint cycles
  • P&L ownership for your products - You own the commercial outcome of your product line: ARR growth, pricing, margins, and the business case behind what we build. Roadmap decisions are made with the P&L in mind, not in isolation
  • Customer implementations - Changeover Instructions has active customer rollouts. You will be close to the implementation team during go-lives and bring learnings back into the product
  • Pre-sales support - Conduct product demos for prospective customers so that you can get a vibe of the market and customer needs

What you'll do day-to-day

  • Own the product roadmap and strategy for the MA&OEE (packaging and bulk production) and Changeover Instructions modules
  • Write and maintain product requirements (user stories, acceptance criteria) aligned with GAMP5 methodology
  • Prioritize based on customer feedback, market trends, competitive positioning, and business impact
  • Collaborate with engineering leads during sprint planning, refinement, and delivery
  • Join customer implementations to ensure successful go-lives and gather first-hand product insights
  • Analyze product usage data and customer feedback to identify improvement opportunities
  • Coordinate with other Product Directors to ensure cross-module consistency (e.g. MA&OEE with EBR, Changeover with Weigh & Dispense)
  • Contribute to go-to-market planning for new features and module launches

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, with senior/lead/director-level scope
  • Proven track record of personally owning a product from discovery through delivery in an Agile environment - as the PM doing the work, not as a manager of PMs
  • Strong recent experience writing clear product requirements and translating complex domain problems into software solutions
  • Comfortable presenting to and engaging with senior customer stakeholders
  • Familiarity with complex products and integration patterns (e.g. ERP, MES, or similar enterprise systems)
  • Experience in a scale-up or growth-stage SaaS company

Nice to have

  • Experience with MES, OEE/analytics platforms, or similar industrial/operational software
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes (packaging lines, machine connectivity, changeovers, GMP workflows)
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements: 21 CFR Part 11, GxP, data integrity (ALCOA+)
  • Exposure to AI/ML applications in manufacturing (anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, OEE insights)

Who thrives in this role

  • Hands-on by default - You enjoy writing specs, refining backlogs, and being in the weeds. The "Director" title doesn't tempt you away from the craft - it just reflects the scope you can own
  • Ownership mindset - You roll up your sleeves and get into implementation details, not just strategy decks
  • Customer empathy - You understand the daily reality of shop floor operators, production managers, and plant directors
  • Clear communicator - You articulate complex pharma/manufacturing concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Adaptable - You switch comfortably between strategic roadmap discussions and tactical day-to-day product decisions
  • Analytical - You take a data-driven approach to prioritization and decision-making

At Vimachem, we know that even exceptional candidates sometimes hesitate to apply. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every single requirement, we encourage you to apply - we'd love to explore your potential fit.
