The Role

The Director of Intake is part of the day-to-day operations of the facility. The Director serves as a liaison with patients, families, physicians, community organizations, and other health related service agencies to provide quality care to our eating disorder clients. Additionally, this role is responsible for hiring, training, and managing a staff that is capable of providing superior care, while maintaining the physical and emotional health of residents, and in accordance with the company's core values.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee clinical admissions duties from initial phone call though hand off to clinical team to obtain authorizations needed for admissions.
  • Oversee interactions and communication with payors to assure best possible communication and best outcomes for reimbursement.
  • Assure that extremely timely and responsive follow through occurs with each contact and assure smooth admissions; verifying with patient and family that all processes exceeded expectations after the patient has admitted. 
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements to enhance the client admissions experience 
  • Evaluate all prospective referrals and identify appropriate treatment settings.
  • Dialogue and build relationships with potential new referral sources regarding insurance needs.
  • Assure all fees, self pays, and deductibles are explained to clients and funds have been wired prior to admissions.
  • Upholding all policies and procedures needed for accreditation and licensing.
  • Train and supervise admissions and clinical staff as needed.
  • Provide direct support to admissions staff by assisting with complex or sensitive admissions cases, including outreach to referral sources, prospective clients, and families to help resolve barriers to admission.
  • Ensure Admissions Specialists are completing their responsibilities in alignment with departmental expectations and consistently meeting established monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs); promptly identify and report performance concerns or operational challenges to the VP of Admissions.
  • As a leader within our organization, uphold and build on the principles of clinical excellence, collegiality, cooperation, and innovation.  
  • Other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • 5+ years experience treating clients with Eating Disorders and Disordered Eating or admissions department leadership. 
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of a variety of models and theories of eating disorders, trauma, mental illness, and related issues.
  • Knowledge of philosophies, practices, policies, and outcomes of models of treatment, recovery, relapse prevention, and continuing care for dually diagnosed populations.
  • Understanding of diagnostic criteria for co-occurring conditions and ability to conceptualize modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care.
  • Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into practice settings.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Must have reliable internet connection.
  • Must be comfortable operating a computer and smart-phone and navigate applications within macOS and iOS.
  • Must be comfortable communicating with colleagues via chat, telephone, and video calls.
  • Must be able to sit for the majority of the shift.
  • This is a work-from-home position. Work should be performed in a private, quiet space with minimal background noise.
