ABOUT THE ROLE


The Inventory Specialist works alongside the Senior Inventory Control Coordinator to support monthly and quarterly inventory counts, maintain an organized warehouse, and ensure inventory records are accurate. This role uses the warehouse management system (WMS), handheld devices, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) to receive, track, label, and reconcile inventory.


ROLES/TASKS OF THE POSITION

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and orderly warehouse.
  • Perform accurate item counts during monthly and quarterly inventory cycles.
  • Research and identify the causes of inventory discrepancies.
  • Use the WMS and handheld devices to complete inventory transactions.
  • Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) to review and maintain inventory records.
  • Ensure warehouse locations and materials are labeled correctly.
  • Move materials as operational needs require.
  • Receive and store incoming inventory with the correct labels.
  • Verify incoming materials against receiving documentation for item, quantity, and condition.
  • Perform routine cycle counts and assist with full physical inventory activities to support accurate stock levels.
  • Reconcile inventory adjustments, transfers, and receipts in coordination with warehouse and operations personnel.
  • Monitor inventory locations for accuracy and report missing, damaged, expired, or incorrectly stored materials.
  • Prepare, maintain, and organize inventory documentation, count sheets, receiving records, and discrepancy notes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED ABILITIES

  • Proficiency with computer programs and the ability to learn and navigate systems efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to meet short- and long-term deadlines.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Ability to travel occasionally between warehouse locations.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely.
  • Experience using a warehouse management system (WMS) and Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) preferred.
  • Experience using handheld barcode scanners or similar inventory devices preferred.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification preferred.
  • Experience researching and resolving inventory discrepancies preferred.
  • Ability to read, understand, and verify receiving paperwork, item numbers, quantities, and warehouse location information.
  • Ability to identify inventory errors, follow established procedures, and communicate issues clearly to leadership or the appropriate team.
  • Ability to work independently while following safety, quality, and inventory-control procedures.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and productivity in a fast-paced warehouse environment with changing priorities.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in inventory control, warehousing, receiving, or a related environment preferred.
