Make a Difference in a child's life!

Foster and Build Relationships with Youth who need positive role models. Guide and support children in and out of foster care. Advocate and mentor youth who have been affected by trauma.


Purpose: 

This position has the responsibility for the day-to-day supervision of children in the residential shelters, assisting with record keeping and specific program functions as well as performing duties necessary for the overall care and well-being of children in the residence. The Youth Care Advocate is responsible for understanding and actively participating in the Therapeutic Campus


Job Details:

  • Provide supervision of children in residence.
  • Provide consistency and structure in daily routines.
  • Facilitate overall care and well-being for the children, many of whom have suffered trauma and have behavioral challenges.
  • Maintain living quarters.
  • Participate in daily activities with children.
  • Support and mentor youth.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and monitor resident behavior.
  • Provide crisis intervention as needed or as directed
  • Support, empower and mentor youth in meeting their goals
  • Utilize positive youth development approach and positive communication skills
  • Maintain professional telephone and email standards
  • Maintain professional appearance, attitude and ethics in the workplace
  • Ability to manage technology for client records
  • Detail and organization for client schedules and activities
  • Documentation of records, logs, and client needs

Employment Standards:

  • Minimum associate degree and two years' experience working with children in a residential program, youth program, or comparable group experience.
  • Working knowledge of adolescent developmental behavior
  • Ability to respond effectively in crisis
  • Must understand and practice good boundaries.
  • Must have a Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass Level II background check and drug screening

Pay scale is based on: Education Level and shift differentials

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time


Primarily hiring for evenings, overnights and weekends!


Youth Haven is a 24/7, 365 days a year, facility that foster and homeless children call home. Staff hired for this position must be willing to work required shifts including holidays.
