About the Opportunity

Zap Energy is looking for a driven, detail-orientated Engineering Technician to join our growing organization. The Engineering Technician's responsibilities include installing wiring and cables, assembling systems, tracking inventory, and ensuring sites are safe and clean. In a research & development environment the technician must be able to adapt rapidly to changing requirements and circumstances, communicate effectively under pressure, and provide constructive suggestions for improvement.


A successful Engineering Technician must demonstrate a sound understanding of engineering terminology and be able to work well in a team. Outstanding Engineering Technicians are self-starters with an insatiable curiosity, a superb work ethic, and strong interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities:

  • Assembling electrical and mechanical assemblies and other devices from manufacturing documentation, drawings, and/or verbal and written instructions.
  • Installing wires and cables, both copper and fiber optic as per best practices
  • Testing components and assemblies as per instructions
  • Operating and Maintaining High Voltage systems including doing preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnosing problems and replacing faulty components to support continuous operation of Zap devices
  • Maintaining a clean and safe lab space and ensuring that all safety procedures are observed during laboratory work.
  • Inspecting inventory and reordering materials and technical components.
  • Maintaining procedures and records.
  • Attending conferences and participating in other learning and growth opportunities.
  • Performing other related duties as required or assigned in the interest of meeting goals on time


Qualifications:

Required:

  • 1-3 years of verifiable experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety standards and practices.
  • Basic mechanical skills and the ability to perform basic and repetitive assembly operations as required.
  • General knowledge of operating hand tools, portable power tools, and bench tools.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Ability to lift 30-50 lbs. daily and maintain a safe working environment.

Preferred:

  • Solidworks or Revit knowledge
  • Forklift training or certification
  • Experience in an R&D environment
  • Associate degree in engineering technology or similar.


Employment may be conditioned upon the ability to obtain export authorization. Estimated pay range: $38-48 per hour . Candidates may be considered for other positions at Zap Energy and actual salary will be based on relevant education, experience, and other qualifications. Range is published in accordance with Washington Equal Pay and Opportunity Act.
