About the role


Position Summary: The Returns/Cut Down Coordinator plays a vital role as a member of the distribution center, fulfilling the company’s mission; Help People Build Better Decks. This role is accountable for modifying/repackaging of items, combining products, cut down of damaged products, and handling all returns to the DC. This role requires multitasking, strong computer and communication skills.

  • Accountabilities:
    • Returns
      • Inspect
      • Receive
      • Putaway
      • Report out damages/open tasks with customer service/IC as needed
    • Cut Downs
      • Pull, cut down, relabel, and putaway items as needed through task system
  • Communications:
    • Communicate directly with the General Manager, Operations Manager, Department Supervisors, Team Leads, and fellow DecksDirect team members
    • Participate in department meetings to ensure proper hand-off of important information
    • Communicate safety issues with distribution center leadership
  • Execution:
    • Performing proper receipt of returned goods
      • Inspect for damages
      • Putaway items after receipt
      • Collect all parcel packages 
      • Receive any not returns if on return pallets
      • Label as needed
    • Modify railing and other products using power hand tools such as nippers, saws and grinders
    • Finish raw edges using hand tools to deburr sharp edges and adding touch-up paint where necessary
    • Combine SKUs of product into one kit SKU and properly package the kit 
    • Put away and replenish stock accurately
    • Transfer products to various locations in the warehouse 
    • Ensure that products are picked and/or repackaged to meet shipping and customer expectations without damage
    • Ensure product is picked accurately for each order
    • Report inventory variances to the inventory control team
    • Other warehouse-related duties as assigned 
  • Measurement:
    • Cut downs
      • Cut downs completed with 7 business days of creation
    • Returns
      • Received into system within 48 hours of delivery
      • If an error, task create within 48 hours of delivery
  • Development:
    • Participate in distribution center continuous improvement events
    • Cross-training in additional functional areas of the distribution center to assist when needed


Qualifications: degrees, certifications, experience, etc.

Working Environment: list location (office, onsite, etc) as well as any physical requirements of the position

  • Full Time: Standard work hours are 8:30am – 5pm Monday through Friday.
  • Hourly / Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)
    • Wage: $22.50/hr starting pay
  • Location: Whitestown, IN
  • Internal position: not remote or telecommute
  • Regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 lbs, occasionally team lift up to
  • 100 lbs
