Its sister company, Clearnetworx, provides ISP services to the surrounding region. The Excavation Support person is a laborer who performs a variety of manual tasks outdoors in all weather conditions; including digging, laying conduit, helping with machinery, etc. This is all done while working in a safe and effective manner.


Deeply Digital's outside plant focuses primarily on placing underground and aerial fiber for telecommunications. Its services include line, coaxial, and optical fiber cable placement, splicing, and home installation.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the engineering and design of the most cost-effective, accurate, and high-quality OSP construction work prints while meeting or exceeding all deadlines. Responsible for reviewing utility poles and performing make-ready engineering work that complies with the NESC and/or local safety regulations.

Job Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

  • Work in various customer-specific systems to produce a cost-effective engineered design for construction to place. Messenger strand, anchors, fiber, and other attachments while complying with national and local regulations surrounding aerial construction.
  • Collect field data with Katapult Pro and Esri Field Maps for poles, aerial pathway, underground pathway, and as-built data collection with GPS.
  • Engineer Field Data using Katapult Pro
  • Pole engineering calculations
  • Make ready identification
  • Fill in Joint-Use data sheets for each pole owner
  • Become Joint-Use point of contact for pole owners and develop relationships
  • Design and configure fiber path using ArcGIS to ensure path followed Right of Ways, easements, or private property with easements signed by customer.
  • Perform site walks prior to construction and perform QA/QC with area assigned Construction Manager for ongoing projects
  • Verify designs with field surveys to ensure that the design is construction-ready
  • Identify any areas of concern and provide alternative pathways for fiber construction
  • Work with permitting and projects team to complete necessary tasks such as permit mapping, ROW/easement verification, easement staking, and other tasks from time to time.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

General

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of outside plant engineering and construction techniques.
  • Experience working with Outside Plant Engineering in the following systems: ArcGIS and Esri Systems, Katapult Pro, and Google Earth
  • Knowledge of fiber networking, routing, and network management.
  • Understanding of Outside Plant Engineering as it pertains to the architecture of various FTTX networks.
  • Knowledge of OSP design and construction, specifically relating to aerial plant, make ready engineering and construction.
  • Ability to read and analyze results of pole loading.
  • Ability to read work prints and construction drawings.
  • Understanding of NESC and joint use.
  • Knowledge of joint pole agreements and processes.
  • Knowledgeable in local, state, and railroad permitting regulations regarding ROW, property rights, and easements
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office programs.
  • Construction experience preferred but not required.
  • Field experience is strongly preferred
  • Deadline driven, self-motivated, and technically savvy.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a team and provide leadership and guidance to field engineers
  • Critical thinking skills; make assessments and provide solutions to problems.
  • Ability to maintain professional tact in a fast-paced work environment with internal personnel and clients.

  • Able to lift pedestal housings and hand hole covers in the field

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 per hour[JN1] [JN2]

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
