The pay range for this role is:
70,000 - 105,000 USD per year (Seattle, US)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a motivated Electrical Designer to join our team. This role is vital in driving our project success across diverse sectors, including multifamily, affordable housing, hospitality, adaptive reuse, tenant improvement, high-rise, and mid-rise projects. You will leverage your expertise in electrical design to create effective, energy-efficient, and sustainable solutions while ensuring compliance with local codes and industry standards.
This position offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment where your contributions will directly impact the quality and success of each project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in electrical design for various project types and deliver projects across multiple delivery models, including design/bid/build, design assist, and full design.
- Develop contract drawings from Schematics through Construction Documents under supervision of Professional Engineers and Senior Designers.
- Effectively communicate design options to internal project team.
- Obtain and apply knowledge of building codes and electrical industry standards.
- Apply engineering principles to electrical distribution, lighting and power systems design.
- Perform engineering calculations and equipment selection.
- Assist with site visits and draft field reports.
- Attend meetings with clients and project teams.
- Support construction administration, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
- Contribute strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment to produce integrated project documents, ensuring cohesive design strategies and solutions.
- Manage project time efficiently, contributing to timely project delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar related field of study, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in electrical engineering practices within the building construction industry.
- Basic knowledge of Revit/CAD modeling software and Bluebeam or other PDF editing software.
- Skilled with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
- Must be located within the Seattle area to support in person meetings as needed (Hybrid office attendance will be established once physical office has been identified).
Preferred Qualifications:
- FE/EIT or plan to acquire in near future.
- Experience modeling electrical systems & compiling construction documents in Revit.
- Practiced with utilizing and interpreting the NEC.
- Knowledge of Washington State and Seattle codes and sustainable design practices.
- Past Electric Utility coordination, including experience with submitting service applications. SCL and PSE experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with design of Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure.
