About the role

As an Energy Markets Operation Manager or Senior Manager, you will be responsible for implementation and management of reporting and best practices within DESRI’s Market Operations program, monitoring market trends and regulatory changes to optimize strategies and scheduling processes, analyzing market data to identify opportunities and risks associated with scheduling decisions, and conducting reviews of Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) analysis to ensure long-term asset profitability.


What you'll do

The individual in this role will also be expected to do the following:

  • Assess the economic impact of energy transactions and scheduling decisions
  • Lead the evaluation, structuring, and potential execution of market-based hedging strategies to manage and mitigate energy, basis, and congestion exposures arising under DESRI’s power purchase agreements, subject to the following:
    • Develop financial models and forecasts to support strategic planning and decision-making
    • Evaluate DART and basis price differentials to inform long-term and short-term asset strategies
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the US energy market dynamics, including regulatory frameworks, market structures, and key players


Qualifications

  • Candidates with bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, or a related field, with 4-10 years of experience is required.
  • Proven experience in energy market analysis, preferably within the US market, as well as a solid understanding of the US energy market landscape, particularly MISO, ERCOT, PJM, and CAISO, is essential for success in this role. 2+ years of management experience in an equivalent role is preferred, and experience with FTRs or other market-based hedging instruments is a plus.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis tools, as well as knowledge of market scheduling processes, SCED analysis, credit obligations, and energy market fundamentals is required.
  • The expected annual base salary for this position is $150,000 - $200,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
