The Director of Network Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight across multiple operational areas, including network operations, project management, site acquisition, and ALERTWest operations. This position requires independent judgment, long-range vision, and sound decision-making to ensure overall performance and organizational effectiveness. The Director is accountable for managing all aspects of network functionality, encompassing operations, maintenance, system upgrades, new installations, and the deployment of alternative camera solutions. The role demands a results-oriented approach, with success measured by departmental outcomes and the broader impact on organizational goals.

- This position is a full-time position, on-site at our office in Chico, CA and may require off-site work.
- A typical work week is 8 hours daily Monday through Friday.
- Must be able to work in a group setting or independently.
- Most work will be in an office setting, with work to be performed outside in the elements, including site visits and meetings.

- Act as a primary point of contact for external partners, agencies, contractors, and vendors as necessary.
- Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, government agencies, and private partners.
- Establishes overall goals and objectives for the Network Operations, Project Management and AlertWest Operations departments.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate department success and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies.
- Ensure communication is cross departmental within the organization.
- Proactively identify risks (e.g., technical, operational, safety-related) and develop mitigation strategies.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve operational efficiency, service delivery, and long-term sustainability.
- Develop and implement strategic plans that align departmental goals with the organization’s broader mission and vision.
- Lead organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during upgrades, reorganizations, or major projects.
Supervisory responsibilities:
- Assist in hiring, training, growth, and development strategies within the department.
- Provides guidance to managers in the daily execution of their duties, offering constructive and timely feedback.
- Oversee discipline and employment terminations of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations for direct reports.
- Lead organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during upgrades, reorganizations, or major projects.
- Serves as a mentor for department managers helping them to build structure within the department.
- Advise on all maintenance activities, proper work methods, and quality standards and equipment.

- Strong computer skills with Office 365, Excel, Word, Project, Access, PowerPoint, Power BI, and work management applications such as, Asana (or similar management applications).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time and use repetitive motions including writing and typing.
- Occasional physical tasks may include stooping, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements include close, distant, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Use of hands to hold, grip, carry, and physically interact with objects, tools, or controls.
Tasks While Driving (Bonus skills):
- Occasional long-distance driving (potential accumulative of 8+ hours).
- Understanding and using GPS coordinates and KMZ files and/or other mapping/navigation software, must demonstrate the ability to navigate through rural areas and off-grid roads.
- Operation of 4x4 vehicles when necessary while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Ability to traverse rough terrain to avoid damage to company equipment.
- Work Environment is primarily office-based with some fieldwork required.

The pay range for this role is:
110,000 - 140,000 USD per year (Headquarters)
