Business Development Representative


This position has a full salary range of $58,750 - $92,500 per year with eligibility for an annual bonus. Starting salary is based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, geographic location and experience. The target hiring range for this role is $58,750 - $74,000.

Candidates for this role must live in a major metropolitan area.


Summary:

The Business Development Representative works with other members of the business development team to identify potential clients and find new business opportunities for Dirty Hands. This role is responsible for driving new business to Dirty Hands through inbound and outbound lead generation, consistent follow-up with potential clients, and marketing activities. Successful candidates will have prior business development and/or sales experience in the natural CPG industry, excellent communication and presentation skills, and a passion for the natural CPG industry.

The Business Development Representative will report to the Director of Business Development.

Responsibilities:

Lead Generation & Prospecting

  • Find potential new clients and generate leads through networking, trade shows, marketing campaigns, email campaigns, social media outreach, and cold calling.
  • Identify potential client needs and key influencers/decision makers within the organization with a goal of preparing compelling proposals and presentations.    
  • Qualify new leads - effectively convey Dirty Hands services and the value of using our services, evaluate against the ideal brand profile set by Business Development and Dirty Hands leadership, and position potential clients for hand-off to Business Development Executives.
  • Schedule meetings for potential clients and Business Development Executives.

Business Development Strategy

  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential areas for business growth in the CPG industry.
  • Develop and implement creative plans to attract potential clients to Dirty Hands and spread awareness of Dirty Hands in the market.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of all aspects of Dirty Hands services and pricing.
  • Build a deep professional network in the CPG and grocery retail industries in order to proactively seek new business opportunities.

Sales Process & Reporting

  • Manage and track potential clients throughout the sales cycle, follow up as needed, and ensure interactions and activities are recorded in our CRM system (Pipedrive).
  • Provide regular updates to leadership, reporting on weekly, monthly, and quarterly inbound and outbound activities.
  • Assist Business Develop Executives in creating sales pitches and maintaining pitch decks.
  • Assist in planning and coordination for trade shows as well as follow up with potential clients after events.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a business development, sales, and/or sales support role in the natural CPG industry.
  • An understanding of and a passion for the natural CPG industry.
  • Highly motivated, results-driven, and proactive.
  • Strong professional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and persuade potential clients.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Ability to modify communication delivery to meet varying needs of clients and quickly establish rapport with key decision makers.
  • Proficient in Google Workspaces and/or Microsoft Office, including experience using Canva, Powerpoint, and/or Google Slides to create professional presentations.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage leaders, track sales progress, and report on activities. Prior experience using Pipedrive is a plus.
  • Willing to travel up to 12 weeks per year to attend trade shows, client meetings, and other in-person events. Weekend travel may be occasionally required.
  • Able to work in a seated position for extended periods of time.
