About the role

The instructor in this role will work on average 28 hours a week. The schedule may vary based on the needs of the student population and where the Sub-Instructor sees opportunity to provide additional tutoring for example. The Sub-Instructor will provide support to the Academic department.

The instructor will also provide student education and training to ensure student progress, retention and completion of the Job Corps program leading to quality full-time jobs, higher education, or advanced training. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.

What you'll do

• Provide academic instruction to students by teaching from approved academic curriculum.
• Meet Department of Labor (DOL) and Company statistical goals for assigned area.
• Demonstrate ability to manage classroom environment and classroom discipline for effective learning.
• Demonstrate full knowledge of competency-based instruction, computer management instruction, and cooperative-learning techniques.
• Tailor facilitation to each student by using a variety of instructional approaches in recognition of students’ diverse learning needs and preferences.
• Make recommendations for policy and curriculum revisions.
• Participate in evaluations of student progress.
• Provide appropriate personal and educational guidance to students.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred to cover academic classrooms.
• Industry experience preferred to cover vocational training classrooms.
• State substitute certification preferred.
• Two years’ experience working with youth.
• Valid driver’s license, unless waived by management.
