Position Location:  Remote - work virtually from anywhere in the United States

Job Summary 

The Technical Project Manager, CFD is accountable for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering analysis efforts across multiple technical domains, with primary emphasis on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Co-Simulation workflows, and Power Systems Studies (PSS/SKM). This person will work as part of the project team and interact closely with the owner, designers, contractors, subcontractors and other trades on projects in mission critical environments. 

 

This role serves as the central coordination point between analysis teams, design teams, project managers, and clients to ensure analysis scopes are clearly defined, schedules are met, deliverables are consistent, and financial performance is tracked. The role will include managing the analysis and design phases of projects including leading and representing DLB in client meetings, coordinating with internal and external members, and general project overhead tasks.   

 

The Technical Project Manager, CFD will receive limited direction on day-to-day work and general instruction on new projects or assignments.  Will execute and assist project leadership on projects of complex scope.  Will work independently or under limited supervision.  

  

The Technical Project Manager, CFD will communicate and operate in line with organizational goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.   

 

Essential Functions 

Analysis Project Setup & Planning (20%) 

  • Establish analysis execution plans aligned with major project milestones and design deliverables 
  • Lead pre-design activities including project initiation, kickoff, and RFIs 
  • Review Owner Project Requirements (OPR) to inform analysis scope during schematic and early design phases 
  • Develop and maintain analysis schedules, including multi-phase and multi-discipline efforts 
  • Assign and schedule duties to analysis team members 
  • Coordinate with technical leads to validate level of effort, assumptions, exclusions, and execution strategy 

Proposal Development & Pre-Contract Support (15%) 

  • Define analysis scope, assumptions, schedules, and deliverables in coordination with technical trade leads and project PMs 
  • Prepare first-draft proposals for analysis scopes using established templates 
  • Develop cost and time schedules for proposed work with input from the project team 
  • Evaluate and review subcontractor proposals and provide recommendations on contract award 
  • Support presentations and pursuit-related technical narratives as needed 

Project Execution, Coordination & Delivery Management (30%) 

  • Act as primary liaison between analysis teams, design, project PMs, and clients 
  • Coordinate resourcing across multiple analysis teams and concurrent projects 
  • Develop, manage, and continuously monitor analysis schedules 
  • Host and facilitate recurring analysis coordination meetings 
  • Lead project meetings when analysis drives scope, risk, or schedule 
  • Oversee and coordinate subconsultant analysis activities 
  • Consolidate meeting notes, decisions, action items, and follow-ups 
  • Proactively escalate scope, schedule, resourcing, or technical risks 

QA/QC, Standards & Internal Organization (15%) 

  • Coordinate and perform QA/QC reviews on reports and analysis deliverables 
  • Review and assemble Input Summary documentation prior to analysis 
  • Ensure consistency, clarity, and technical defensibility across all analysis outputs 
  • Maintain standardized reporting approaches across analysis types 
  • Maintain task trackers, action logs, decision registers, and background coordination items 

Financial Management & Risk Control (10%) 

  • Track analysis fees, cost utilization, and project-level profitability 
  • Monitor and report cloud-based solver usage and other compute-related costs 
  • Coordinate change management when analysis scope evolves 
  • Prepare, forecast, and monitor budgets, margins, bill rates, and utilization 
  • Communicate with clients regarding additional fees and change orders 
  • Identify financial and schedule risks and implement mitigation strategies 
  • Develop cost schedules and schedules of value for progress billing 

Client Relationship & Business Support (5%) 

  • Maintain strong working relationships with clients through clear, consistent communication 
  • Serve as primary analysis contact for select clients as appropriate 
  • Support identification of additional analysis opportunities tied to active work 

Administrative & Internal Reporting (5%) 

  • Review and distribute required reporting 
  • Manage project contract administration tasks 
  • Track project hours using company software 
  • Complete required departmental and internal reports 
  • Support growth and hiring for expanded analysis demand 

Technology, Digital Tools & AI-Enabled Efficiency 

  • Identify opportunities and lead the strategic use of technology, digital platforms, and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency through workflow automation, reduced manual effort, and improved accuracy in forecasting, documentation, reporting, and quality processes. 
  • Support adoption of emerging technologies - including advanced analytics, data visualization tools, and digital construction management platforms - to strengthen readiness, quality assurance, and project controls. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technology solutions align with DLB standards for data security, privacy, and operational integrity. 
  • Promote a culture that embraces innovation, continuous improvement, and the strategic use of technology to optimize performance and scalability. 

Completion of Assigned Tasks and Deliverables on Time and on Budget 

Performs Other Related Duties as Assigned 


Position Requirements (Intermediate level for all the following) 

  • Technical aptitude sufficient to understand and manage CFD, hydraulic analysis, power systems, and related analysis workflows 
  • Direct expertise in all analysis domains is not expected 
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple stakeholders concurrently is critical 
  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical concepts quickly and ask the right questions 
  • Experience coordinating technical teams, schedules, and deliverables 
  • Knowledge of data center industry trends, project management and design procedures and best practices 
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods and coordination of people and resources 
  • ​Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management 
  • Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail 
  • Skilled at managing personnel and material resources 
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously 
  • Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others 
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements  
  • Ability to analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence 
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form (technical and non-technical information)  
  • Ability to communicate effectively directly with clients and at times serve as primary point of client contact  
  • Ability to work successfully as a member of a team and independently with moderate supervision 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines  
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with onsite and remote team members 
  • Ability to effectively plan and delegate the work of others 
  • Ability to analyze complex information and develop plans to address identified issues

Travel Requirements 

  • Approximately 15%, this may include travel to any or all 50 US states  
  • Travel is defined as physically leaving home on behalf of business activities including but not limited to client sites, meetings with other employees, meeting for business development purposes, running errands on behalf of the business, attending industry conferences, etc. 

Education / Experience  

  • B.A. / B.S. degree in engineering, construction or related discipline 

OR 

  • Two years of additional experience in related field in lieu of degree 

PLUS 

  • Minimum of five years of experience in related field
