Position Overview
We’re seeking a driven Engineering, Business, and/or Marketing Intern to join our growing team in Detroit, MI. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives at the intersection of technology, design, and communication. You’ll work directly with our leadership team to support product development, field operations, marketing campaigns, and strategic partnerships — gaining hands-on experience in one of the fastest-growing sectors in tech.
Key Responsibilities
Depending on your background and interests, duties may include:
Engineering & Technical Focus
- Assist in drone assembly, testing, and calibration (hardware & flight systems).
- Support flight data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Contribute to research and development of new drone components and educational kits.
- Work with software and hardware teams to improve operational efficiency and documentation.
Participate in field demonstrations and pilot training events
- Help coordinate project logistics, schedules, and procurement for drone training programs.
- Support data management, CRM updates, and workflow systems (via Rippling, Google Workspace, etc.).
- Assist with proposal writing, grants, and government liaisons (LED, university partners, etc.).
- Contribute to the development of onboarding materials and process documentation for new hires.
- Participate in financial tracking, budgeting, and cost analysis related to drone deployments.
Marketing & Outreach Focus
- Assist in branding, content creation, and digital marketing campaigns.
- Manage and grow social media presence (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.).
- Support partnership outreach with agricultural organizations, schools, and industry groups.
- Write blog posts, newsletters, and press releases highlighting First Flight initiatives.
- Participate in event planning, media coverage, and demo day coordination.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong interest in aerospace, drones, STEM education, or precision agriculture.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, or Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Experience with drone technology, CAD, or data visualization tools is a plus (not required).
- Must be a team player, capable of working in both technical and creative environments.

Compensation & Schedule
- Pay: Commensurate with experience and education level.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, 15–25 hours per week (full-time summer option available).
