What is the purpose of this role?
The Opportunity: Build the Operating System for Scale
DOOR is a high-growth Hardware + Software company at a pivotal inflection point. We have achieved strong product-market fit, secured significant market traction, and built a loyal customer base. Now, we are investing in the strategic leadership and infrastructure needed to dominate our category and support our next phase of massive growth.
Location: Remote (Must reside in Denver, CO area)
Compensation:
Salary Range - $180,000 - $220,000 commensurate on experience
What is the role?
We are looking for a Director of Product to serve as the strategic architect for our product organization. You won't just be managing a backlog, you will be building the Product Operating System from the ground up. You will lead the transition from an output-focused feature factory to an outcome-focused product engine, installing the data loops, discovery frameworks, and strategic rigor we need to scale.
If you are a builder who loves the challenge of taking a successful, high-potential company and installing the infrastructure for world-class product management, this is your role.
Who is DOOR?
DOOR (formerly Latch) is unlocking the next era of Building Intelligence. We combine premium hardware, intuitive software, and automated operations into one seamless platform—helping multifamily properties run more efficiently, grow revenue, and deliver smarter, more connected living experiences. From smart access and in-unit automation to building-wide controls, DOOR empowers owners, operators, and property teams to reduce overhead, protect asset value, and stand out in a competitive market.
We believe smarter buildings make life simpler. At DOOR, you’ll help shape a future where buildings anticipate needs, operate effortlessly, and quietly improve life for everyone inside.
What will you do?
- Build the "Voice of Customer" Engine: We have strong sales instincts, but we need systematic validation. You will implement rigorous continuous discovery loops (customer interviews, advisory boards, user testing) to ensure we are solving the right problems, not just the loudest ones.
- Establish Data-Driven Rigor: We are shifting from intuition-led to evidence-based decision making. You will partner with Engineering to define the missing instrumentation, choose the right analytics stack, and instill a culture where every roadmap item has a clear success metric before code is written.
- Define the End-to-End Lifecycle: You will professionalize our product development process, creating a clear path from raw ideation to post-launch measurement. You champion early collaboration, bringing Design and Engineering into the solutioning phase to formulate the best approach together. You also ensure that no feature is considered done until its impact has been measured against the original hypothesis.
- Own the Whole Product Experience: You will lead a unified team of Product Managers and Product Designers. You will bridge the gap between how it looks (Design) and how it works (PM), ensuring our Hardware and Software experiences feel seamless.
- Architect the Roadmap Process: Work directly with the Head of Product to translate company vision into a coherent 12-month strategy. You will help us balance Enterprise Commitments with Market Innovation.
- Mentor & Elevate the Team: Our PMs are talented but busy with execution. You will mentor them on the craft of Product Management, moving them from writing tickets to owning business outcomes.
- Direct Product Operations: You will lead a dedicated Product Operations Manager who executes launch logistics, release communications, and beta program coordination. You define the program strategy and provide direction; they handle the coordination and delivery to free you up for high-leverage Discovery and Strategy work.
What do you bring to DOOR?
- Customer Obsession: You start with the customer and work backwards. You are relentless about validating assumptions directly with users rather than relying on proxy feedback or sales anecdotes. You work vigorously to earn and keep customer trust.
- Ownership: You think long-term and don't sacrifice long-term value for short-term results. You act on behalf of the entire company, never saying "that's not my job." You own the outcome of the product, not just the shipment of the feature.
- Bias for Action: Speed matters in business. You value calculated risk-taking and don't let perfect be the enemy of good. You build the "MVP" of a process before trying to perfect it, ensuring we are constantly moving forward.
- Dive Deep: You operate at all levels, stay connected to the details, and are skeptical when metrics and anecdotes differ. You aren't afraid to open the database, read the API logs, or join a support call to understand the root cause of friction.
- Insist on the Highest Standards: Leaders have relentlessly high standards. You believe great products come from great rigor. You introduce world-class frameworks (Jobs to be Done, RICE) to raise the collective bar of the team, ensuring we aren't just shipping features, but solving problems correctly.
- Data-Hungry, Not Data-Paralyzed: Leaders are right a lot. You have strong judgment and good instincts. You seek diverse perspectives and work to disconfirm your beliefs with data. If the dashboard doesn't exist, you build it yourself to ensure your intuition is backed by evidence.
- Learn and Be Curious: Leaders are never done learning and always seek to improve themselves. You might not be a hardware engineer today, but you are eager to explore the physical possibilities of our business, understanding how code impacts the manufacturing line.
Requirements
Must-Haves:
- 8+ years of Product Management experience, with significant time spent in B2B or Enterprise SaaS.
- 3+ years of People Leadership: Experience hiring, coaching, and elevating Product Managers. Experience leading or partnering closely with Product Design is highly preferred.
- Data Fluency: Demonstrated ability to define success metrics and partner with engineering to implement product analytics stacks (e.g., Amplitude, FullStory, Pendo). You don't just consume data; you know how to instrument it.
- Proven Builder Experience: You can point to a specific system (Voice of Customer program, Planning Process, Discovery Loop) that you designed and implemented at a previous company.
- Discovery Mastery: deeply experienced in conducting customer interviews and translating raw feedback into strategic insights.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Physical Product Context: Experience working in IoT, Hardware, Logistics, or any industry involving real world operations.
- Industry Background: Familiarity with Multifamily Real Estate, Access Control, or Security industries.
- Note: If you are a world-class Product Director with a different background, apply anyway. We value process and leadership craft over specific domain knowledge.
DOOR understands that job requirements sometimes exclude people who identify with historically marginalized groups from applying to jobs for which they are qualified. Even if you don’t meet 100% of the requirements listed, or if you achieved these requirements through unconventional channels, we encourage you to apply.
