Role & Responsibilities

The Creative Scriptwriter, Social Media develops original content concepts and writes scripts for short-form videos across Dreww’s Always-On social media mandates.

In this role, you will work with Strategists and Specialists to turn content strategies, creative briefs, brand objectives, and audience insights into ideas people want to watch. You will write for different brands in both French and English, finding the right angle, hook, and story for each audience and platform.

This is a concept development and writing role. You will collaborate with the teams responsible for client relationships and production, with a focus on creating strong ideas and scripts that can be brought to life.

As a Creative Scriptwriter, Social Media at Dreww, you will:

• Develop original concepts and scripts for short-form videos across multiple client mandates.
• Turn brand messages, products, services, and audience insights into compelling creative angles.
• Write hooks, dialogue, voiceovers, and on-screen copy in French and English.
• Adapt your ideas and writing to each brand’s voice, audience, and platform.
• Develop recurring formats and content series when they support a brand’s strategy.
• Research brands, industries, audiences, and subject matter to make concepts relevant and accurate.
• Stay current on social media culture, trends, and formats, and identify opportunities relevant to client work.
• Collaborate with Strategists and Specialists during ideation and refine concepts and scripts based on feedback.
• Write concepts and scripts clearly enough for the production team to execute.
• Manage priorities and deadlines across several brands and mandates.

Qualifications:

• 2–5 years of experience in creative writing, content concept development, scriptwriting, or a related field, including experience creating content for social media or short-form video.
• Strong creative writing and storytelling skills, including an understanding of hooks, structure, pacing, and payoff.
• Ability to turn a brief or brand message into an original idea suited to a specific audience and platform.
• Strong understanding of TikTok, Instagram, and the creative conventions of short-form video.
• Ability to write naturally and originally in both French and English, and adapt your tone across brands.
• Strong research skills and the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar products, industries, and audiences.
• Ability to collaborate, receive feedback, and revise concepts and scripts efficiently.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines across multiple mandates.
• Relevant education in advertising, communications, writing, marketing, or a related field is considered an asset. Any relevant combination of education and experience will be considered.

Language Requirement

Advanced writing proficiency in French and English is required because this role develops original concepts and scripts for both French- and English-language mandates. You must be able to write from scratch in each language, adapt ideas to each brand and audience, and collaborate with internal team members in both languages.
