DroneShield (ASX:DRO) offers an opportunity to solve some of world’s most challenging technical problems in the Electronic Warfare, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, RF sensing, Sensor Fusion and distributed systems. Working with high profile customers across militaries, government agencies, airports, critical infrastructure, law enforcement and many others.

With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.

This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 300 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 350 staff by end of 2025. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.


About the role

This newly created position is a result of DroneShield growing from approximately $25m market capitalisation at its listing in 2016, to $1bn and growing today, with around 30,000 shareholders around the world. The role is based in our Pyrmont office in Sydney and reporting to the CEO, with a close collaboration with the CFO.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations 

  • Engagement across DroneShield’s shareholder base and prospective new shareholders, promoting our investment story and answering queries
  • Organising materials for, and presenting DroneShield at earnings update calls and other investor engagements
  • Drafting the “investor story” section of the quarterly 4C Reports, investor presentations, Half Annual and Annual Reports, in collaboration with the CFO
  • Engagement with ASX, in collaboration with Company Secretaries
  • Shareholder and proxy solicitations at Annual General Meeting
  • Financial media strategy, in collaboration with the Government Relations Director and an external media adviser
  • Driving DroneShield’s M&A strategy as it seeks to continue cementing its position as the global leader in the counterdrone sector, through inorganic expansion options globally. This includes developing M&A strategy in conjunction with the CEO and senior management, identifying potential targets (working individually or in collaboration with corporate advisory firms), and executing buyside M&A opportunities
  • The role does not have direct reports, however there is meaningful resourcing access available via other DroneShield executives and external advisors.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

  • Minimum of 10-15 years tier 1 experience in capital markets, which may include ECM, M&A and/or IR work
  • Australian experience is preferred, however UK or US experience will also be considered
  • The work is substantially in the Pyrmont office, however there is a degree of hybrid flexibility
  • Degree-qualified in commerce, law or similar
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High level of self-motivation, responsibility, and operational discipline
  • Candidates must currently reside in Australia and have unrestricted working rights.
