About the role

DroneShield is seeking a highly capable Proposal Lead to manage and author key proposal responses—including RFTs, RFIs, RFQs, and other opportunities—across Australian and international defence and security markets. This role is ideal for a strategic executor: someone equally comfortable managing a proposal and writing its core narrative.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you’ll work closely with Sales Directors, engineering teams, legal, finance, and the executive leadership group to produce high-quality, compliant, and compelling submissions.

This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that sits at the centre of DroneShield’s growth strategy, contributing directly to our global success.

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations

  • Lead the full lifecycle of proposal responses—from opportunity release to final submission.
  • Write and structure persuasive, accurate proposal content across management, technical, and executive-level sections.
  • Coordinate and consolidate inputs from cross-functional stakeholders including sales, engineering, legal, finance, and product teams.
  • Develop and maintain proposal plans, compliance matrices, schedules, and internal review cycles.
  • Facilitate reviews and feedback sessions (e.g. Red Team, Gold Team) to refine and elevate proposal quality.
  • Build and maintain a content library of reusable templates, boilerplate content, and case studies.
  • Support regional sales teams with proposal tools, process guidance, and scalable best practices.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • 3–5+ years of direct experience in proposal development or bid writing, ideally within the defence, aerospace, or high-tech sectors.
  • Strong working knowledge of government and defence tendering frameworks (e.g. ASDEFCON, ITTs, global defence tender platforms).
  • Excellent writing and editing skills—you’re confident crafting persuasive, well-structured content with minimal oversight.
  • Strong organisational and project management abilities—able to manage multiple concurrent submissions under tight timeframes.
  • Comfortable collaborating across diverse teams, including technical, commercial, and executive stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration platforms such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.

Note for recruitment agencies: We do not accept unsolicited candidates from external recruiters unless specifically instructed.
