This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 270 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2025. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.

About the role

The company is seeking a Front End Developer with relevant experience to join the development team in Sydney. The role is primarily focused on the development of DroneShield product DroneSentry-C2 . 

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations 

• Design and develop the current systems to increase functionality and usability
• Build features and improvements from conceptualisation to realisation working closely with the software engineering team
• Take operational responsibility for the services and code base that you will develop
• You know and care about sound engineering practices like continuous delivery, defensive programming and automated testing
• You are a lifelong learner, passionate about keeping up with current developments and best practices in your areas of expertise
• An abundance of ambition and motivation to grow the company and compete with the big players in the industry

Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

• Degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
• More than 5 years experience in commercial software development
• Experience working with in contemporary React, modern TypeScript frameworks and libraries
• Experience with consuming complex REST APIs and websockets
• Familiar with Docker, Postman, GitLab, and comfortable with running software in Linux/unix environments
• Previous ‘start-up’ or ‘scale-up’ experience is favourable
