This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 290 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 350 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.


About the role

DroneShield is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Systems Test Engineer to support the validation and testing of next-generation Counter-UAS technologies. As part of the growing Test & Evaluation team, you will be responsible for executing structured test procedures, assisting in data collection and analysis, and supporting engineering and product teams during integration and field testing. 


This is a dynamic role with exposure to real-world testing environments, requiring hands-on involvement across multiple product lines and operational domains. 


Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations 

  • Execute system-level and subsystem test procedures in both lab and field environments. 
  • Conduct data logging, signal analysis, and performance validation using test tools and software. 
  • Support setup and operation of test rigs, instrumentation, and telemetry systems. 
  • Assist in the preparation of test documentation, including procedures, reports, and failure logs. 
  • Collaborate with design and systems engineers to troubleshoot issues and verify resolutions. 
  • Participate in customer demonstrations and trials as required. 
  • Ensure all test activities comply with internal quality and safety protocols. 


Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field. 
  • 1–3 years experience in a test, QA, IT networking, systems engineering, or technical support role. 
  • Familiarity with electronics, RF systems, or embedded devices is advantageous. 
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. 
  • Excellent written communication and technical documentation ability. 
  • Comfortable working in outdoor or operational environments during live trials. 
  • Eligible for an Australian NV1 security clearance (must be an Australian citizen).
