About the role

The Tax Administration and Compliance Assistant supports the tax department in ensuring DroneShield complies with US tax regulations and filing requirements. This individual will assist the Group Tax Accountant with the submission of tax returns, processing payments and maintaining accurate tax records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and has a basic understanding of tax principles.


Responsibilities, Duties and Expectation

  • Assist in filing tax returns (e.g., sales and use tax, corporate income tax, employer payroll withholding taxes) and processing payments at both a State and Federal level in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and organized tax records, files, and documentation.
  • Support the Group Tax Accountant in responding to inquiries and audits from tax authorities.
  • Monitor tax deadlines and ensure timely submission of all returns and payments.
  • Assist the Group Tax Accountant in researching tax laws and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Communicate with internal departments to gather necessary information for tax reporting.
  • Help with the preparation of documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Track and manage tax correspondence from tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide other administrative support to the finance team as required.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, HR or a related field.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a tax, accounting, office administration or compliance role (preferred).


Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

  • Basic understanding of a company tax and finance function.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting or ERP software (e.g., Xero, Oracle) is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
