With one of the largest listed defence company market capitalisations in Australia and having raised approximately $250m in 2024 alone, DroneShield is undergoing hypergrowth stage, fuelled by rapidly increasing use of drones for nefarious applications, from battlefield, to terrorism, to contraband delivery and commercial espionage.

This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 200 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.


About the role

DroneShield is seeking a Project Manager(s) with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW. 

The position will report to the CTO and focus on managing internal projects within software, embedded systems, and Industrial Design teams. 

Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations 

  • Coordinate and manage projects from inception to completion within internal teams, focusing on one of the following areas: Software Development, Embedded systems, or Industrial Design 
  • Provide coordination support to Engineering teams involved in project delivery 
  • Manage planning and coordination tools specific to internal project management 
  • Coordinate team resources to ensure alignment and timely delivery of project milestones 
  • Develop and maintain documentation essential for project planning, reporting, and scheduling 
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across various teams 
  • Ensure projects are completed in line with internal quality standards and stakeholder expectations 
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with key stakeholders within the organisation 
  • Support site administration and safety protocols related to internal project activities 
  • Foster a collaborative and motivating environment to maximise team contributions 
  • Collaborate on problem-solving for project-related issues. 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar position 
  • Confidence to manage project delivery from inception to closure 
  • Required project management experience within a software product development environment 
  • Experience with customer engagement in a Defence (AUSDEFCON) or critical-engineering environment is favourable 
  • People management and leadership skills are highly favourable 
  • Experience with the systems engineering lifecycle from concept definition and requirements management to project delivery is favourable 
  • Australian Citizen and able to successfully obtain and maintain a minimum Baseline Security Clearance is preferred.
