This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 290 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 350 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.


About the role

DroneShield is seeking an Events Manager to lead the planning and execution of key industry events and internal company activities, supporting our business development and brand engagement objectives. The position will report to the Chief Operating Officer.  

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Events Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all external and internal events. This role will manage DroneShield’s participation in international tradeshows, conferences, and industry exhibitions, while also driving internal office activities such as staff events, team offsites, and VIP visits. The ideal candidate will bring strong project management skills, creativity, and attention to detail, ensuring that all events reflect the DroneShield brand and achieve strategic objectives. 


Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations 

  • External Events (Tradeshows, Conferences & Exhibitions) 
  • Develop and manage the annual event/tradeshow calendar aligned with company priorities and go-to-market strategy. 
  • Coordinate all logistics for industry events, including booth design, vendor engagement, travel, shipments, and registrations. 
  • Collaborate with marketing, sales, and operations teams to define goals, messaging, and assets required for each event. 
  • Liaise with external event organisers and contractors to manage timelines and deliverables. 
  • Oversee budget planning, procurement, and post-event reporting including lead tracking. 
  • Ensure compliance with brand guidelines and Defence/Export approvals when relevant. 
  • Domestic and International travel will be required.  

Internal Events (Office-Based Activities & Engagement) 

  • Plan and execute internal team events such as training days, team building, milestone celebrations, and themed office days. 
  • Coordinate VIP visits, stakeholder tours, and executive events at the office. 
  • Support cross-functional teams with logistics for internal workshops and meetings. 
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to maintain a vibrant and professional office environment for staff and guests. 

Qualifications, Experience and Skills 

  • 3+ years of experience in event management, ideally with exposure to both B2B tradeshows and internal company events. 
  • Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities. 
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. 
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with competing deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management tools (e.g., project planners, collaboration software, CRM). 
  • Experience working in a Defence, technology, or government-regulated industry (desirable but not essential).
