About the role
The Senior Agronomist combines technical expertise in crop production with market intelligence to maximize productivity, quality, and profitability across our commodity portfolio.
The role will bridge the critical gap between agricultural science and commercial commodity markets. Your comprehensive understanding of crop physiology, environmental factors, and market requirements will drive optimization throughout the production cycle—from seed selection and planting strategies to harvest timing and post-harvest handling. You'll apply your deep technical knowledge to enhance yield potential, improve quality parameters, and ensure sustainability across diverse growing regions and commodity types.
What you'll do
- Conduct comprehensive field assessments and soil analyses to optimize production of agricultural commodities
- Monitor crop development and health across diverse growing regions
- Develop and implement sustainable agricultural practices to improve yield and quality
- Provide technical expertise on crop varieties, cultivation methods, and pest management
- Analyze commodity market trends and forecasts to inform strategic planning
- Assess quality of agricultural commodities against market standards
- Consult with producers, buyers, and traders on technical aspects of crop production
- Create detailed reports on crop conditions, yield estimates, and quality evaluations
- In depth knowledge of post harvest handling requirements
- Lead research initiatives to improve cultivation techniques and address emerging challenges
- Mentor junior agronomists and provide training to stakeholders
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, or related field
- Minimum 7 years of experience in agronomy with focus on commercial crops and commodities
- Proven expertise in evaluating agricultural commodities quality and market potential
- Strong understanding of global agricultural commodity markets and supply chains
- Experience with sustainable farming practices and resource management
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences
- Willingness to travel regularly for field assessments (approximately 30-40%)
